If she doesn't make it out before NCL, she won't be going for a LOOONG time! NCL has considerable backing to do, then turning. By that time the incoming traffic will be entering the channel -- and also the weather front!!!

Tuned in to the Tampa port cam and audio a couple of hours ago to watch Ryndam's last Tampa sail away. Lotta stuff going on to delay departure.

 

Just returned on her last week from 14 day Southern Caribbean. Very cool to hear Capt. Rowden and crew dialog after going a week not hearing it every day.

 

If they can't leave at 6, looks like it won't be til 9pm. Plus the weather is moving in. This is getting pretty compelling.

 

Norwegian Sun now pushing off to turn around and Ryndam is casting off.

 

Bon voyage to all aboard and farewell to a good ship.

Actually, I don't think Lou and Dave had much choice. Ryndam is just emerging from behind the terminal where Sun sat. We'd have had a bit of a view but not much.

We took our first Hal cruise on her in 1995 and she was 6 months old.

I may have quoted the wrong person (switching between ship viewing and garden committee) but somebody on land mentioned they were seeing the ship off with a banner they made.

I am booked on the Statendam's September 21st sailing from Seattle and I am expecting something more than just a "normal" departure.

Glad they stopped following the Sun and put the Ryndam on full display.

 

What a stately and graceful glide down the channel. But the wind is really picking up as that squall line moves in.

Could the NCL Sun be waiting for the Ryndam to go out first? She does not seem to have moved.

 

Edited to add: seems the Sun is also moving at about 5 knots.
