Frank12 Posted April 28, 2015 #52 Share Posted April 28, 2015 We've hit about 50% of them. Some are better than others. If we aren't doing anything we go, but don't plan our day around it!
kona_wahine Posted April 28, 2015 #53 Share Posted April 28, 2015 We only went to get some free drinks. Figure 6 between us at $7.50 each....:D. It was interesting hearing how many days the diamonds had cruised. The longest was well over 700 days total, or over two years. That's crazy. Kristi Williamson Posted April 28, 2015 #54 Share Posted April 28, 2015 We're platinum and attended our first past guest party this past week on the Fascination. We had a blast and will definitely go back. I'll admit that the timing was one reason we decided to go to this one, though. It was held from 5-5:45 and we could head to dinner immediately afterward. Food is always better with a buzz, right? :D:p I'd love to go to another one but hate when they're at 4pm or something. I'm either at the pool or getting ready in my room at that time. Here's to hoping they continue to have them at a reasonable time that just makes more sense...
S.S.Oceanlover Posted April 28, 2015 #55 Share Posted April 28, 2015 I haven't been to apast guest party since they started having them so early. I hope they split the parties for early & late seating as well as colors. I've only been to one out of 11 past guest parties and it was a real snoozefest. Supposed to be looking at pictures of the Carnival ships and applauding if you ever sailed that ship but alas they couldn't get the monitor to work so the CD tried to remember every ship in the fleet. Wasn't something i would miss if it goes away. Bill
near the beach Posted April 28, 2015 #56 Share Posted April 28, 2015 On the Breeze and the Freedom there were two past guest parties because of the large amount of returning passengers. The parties were before dinner. One for the early seating and one for the late seating

beauty1492 Posted April 28, 2015 #58 Share Posted April 28, 2015 On the Pride last week the theater was full. they did not collect invites so anyone could walk in. Since we have late seating 4:15 is awful time for a party for us. But we love to go to talk to the other cruisers. My only complaint that we were having a great time and we got the boot. the party was over and they said we had to leave.
Elaine5715 Posted April 28, 2015 #59 Share Posted April 28, 2015 I've got 26 Carnival cruises under my belt and went to my first past guest party 2 Carnival cruises ago. I only went that time because it was just down the promenade from the casino where I was gambling and I got hungry. I thought I'd just stop in to grab a snack. I walked in and there were no seats to be had, and it was so busy I could not get waited on period. So I just walked out. That is my one and only experience with a past guest party. It wouldn't matter to me if they stopped the past guest party. I can think of other perks I'd favor. Since I tip well in the casino and the casino wait staff work the Past Guest party, I have had drinks lined up..

It was interesting hearing how many days the diamonds had cruised. The longest was well over 700 days total, or over two years. That's crazy. If, I'd stay with one line, I would have over 800 days. :) Trouble is, it's spread out through most of the regular cruise lines. 102 cruises. Rottweiler Puppy Posted April 28, 2015 #62 Share Posted April 28, 2015 Then the ATD/YTD guests were out of luck? Please dont take this as the typical sarcastic remark on this forum but the YTD folks have the flexibility to choose either one.
carrieluvsgreg Posted April 28, 2015 #63 Share Posted April 28, 2015 Then the ATD/YTD guests were out of luck? It was like this on our Dream cruise last April. We had atd and were assigned to a particular party time. So on that evening we just went to dinner following the party. (We were assigned the first party-not sure if all atd guests were assigned the same, but that's what we've experienced twice now. )

There was supposed to be a question mark at the end FWIW. Sorry about that. Was asking if they had the flexibility.
Jimmy Geegitz Posted April 28, 2015 #65 Share Posted April 28, 2015 They should have a party for Gold members only. No Platinum or Diamond. Then have a slightly better separate party for Platinum and Diamond. This would bring the crowds down.

barbatkins Posted April 28, 2015 #67 Share Posted April 28, 2015 The Diamonds already have our own party.... With Sr. officers.... And excellent food and drinks...and on occasion, we've had a live band. Just sayin..
AmberTeka Posted April 28, 2015 #68 Share Posted April 28, 2015 I agree that the time is too early. We play trivia and usually a game is scheduled the same time as the party. Also to get there and have your glad rags on for formal night........you have to start dressing at about three. I wish they had one around six or seven or eight. A time when people could go.. And a drink voucher to use where ever...would be LOVELY. And I don't even drink much.. BUT very seldom I do have a glass of wine.

Out to sea! Posted April 28, 2015 #70 Share Posted April 28, 2015 I was on 10 Carnival cruises last year. Several, had more than one repeater party as there were so many qualified people on board. At EVERY one of these parties, while I was waiting in line, there were "additional" people, some bragging, that shouldn't have been there, as they were not Gold, Platinum or Diamond. A whole group of at least 10 people, were with a single gold person behind me. I saw, blue tags on most of them. I always see people walking out with additional drinks. One time, a couple were carrying 3 each. With the large numbers of people, I can see, more restrictive policies being started. That's because some people here think they can take the entire ship with them to the party because JH may have said that it was okay to do so one time (not that JH has the right to make or change Carnival policy). Quilcruisers Posted April 29, 2015 #75 Share Posted April 29, 2015 We attend every past guest party. It's fun for us. The last party was on the triumph in one of the lounges. In the past, it was in the showroom and full. In the lounge it was quite empty but we did receive free drinks and apps. I am thankful for any perk, no matter how small and will show up to get it. We usually fall in line at any event giving away free anything lol. It's part of our vacation mentality. We are much more conservative at home and really relax when on vacation and do things we don't get to do often. Last time we got the party , even my 11 year old attends the party and will get his free "drink". We also got coupons for a drink but had to use at lunch in mdr. Or at breakfast. Mimosas or wine and mixed drinks are included. We are gold.
