psbtrvlr Posted May 10, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 10, 2015 Rarely. Service would have to be exceptional. The daily gratuities go to the wait staff and your cabin staff.
Rottweiler Puppy Posted May 10, 2015 #3 Share Posted May 10, 2015 (edited) Do you tip nightly if you have anytime dining? Your daily tips cover the Anytime staff the same as the Assigned dining staff. When we get a server that we like in YTD we request them every night and they really seem to appreciate it. I end up tipping extra at the end of the cruise because each time they go above and beyond. Seriously, the best dining servers I ever had were always on Carnivals YTD. Catrin Posted May 10, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 10, 2015 We kept all our tips on our S&S card. Did not tip individually. Catrin

Jimmy Geegitz Posted May 10, 2015 #6 Share Posted May 10, 2015 We tip nightly with YTD. Because we don't always have same wait staff.
jmcancruise Posted May 10, 2015 #7 Share Posted May 10, 2015 We used to tip 25 extra to the head waiter, 15 to the assistant waiter. If we were to tip every evening, we would feel cheap not tipping at least 5 each. That would add up to 70. Not sure I want to spend that much so not sure what to do. cruiser4four Posted May 10, 2015 #8 Share Posted May 10, 2015 On our last cruise we had anytime dining and we tipped every night. We basically divided the same amount we would have tipped if we had the same wait staff every night by the number of nights we went to the MDR. Also, the amount we tipped each member of the wait staff was similar to the amount we tipped for room service. A few dollars but it was appreciated. carrieluvsgreg Posted May 10, 2015 #9 Share Posted May 10, 2015 Do you tip nightly if you have anytime dining? Always... The service doesn't change Just because you're in a different location. We have had many sailings where we request the same serving team multiple nights and develop the same kind of relationship with them as set dining. Our most recent trip on the breeze we found the atd crew forked extra hard still remembering names at every table even though they changed nightly. Elaine5715 Posted May 10, 2015 #11 Share Posted May 10, 2015 If you leave your gratuities in place, each days allocation for wait team will go to them that is why they note your folio number. You can tip extra. If you remove your gratuities and don't tip each meal, the server get hosed.
Tutontow Posted May 10, 2015 #12 Share Posted May 10, 2015 If I find a wait team that I like, I request them every night and then give an extra tip at the end of the cruise. Ditto, that is an added perk of YTD. If your wait staff stinks you just switch the next night. If they are good, you request them every night. For me YTD is the only way to go. We just leave our tips on our S&S account and then if they really did a good job we give them extra on the last night.
cb at sea Posted May 10, 2015 #13 Share Posted May 10, 2015 There is no need to tip additionally..the daily tips that are added to your account is what covers your cabin attendant AND wait staff...regardless of what type of dining you choose. SMSACE6 Posted May 10, 2015 #16 Share Posted May 10, 2015 Do you tip nightly if you have anytime dining? The two times I had anytime dining, I got excellent wait staff the first night, so requested the same team each night and got them back. So, I just tipped them extra the last evening. If I were to get a different team each night, I most likely would not tip extra nightly, their basic tips is already looked after (as long as you leave your auto tips in place, or prepay) But so far, I have lucked out with great waiters in anytime. SMSACE6 Posted May 10, 2015 #17 Share Posted May 10, 2015 I thought pre paid gratuities was required if selecting YTD. Not so? I did prepay last cruise (Nov 2014) but first time in 2010, it was auto tips added to sail and sign on day two. So perhaps things have changed since then. Lurkyloo Posted May 10, 2015 #18 Share Posted May 10, 2015 If I find a wait team that I like, I request them every night and then give an extra tip at the end of the cruise. Yep - I generally always get the early sitting, but on Princess both times it was anytime (or whatever they call it on Princess) and that is what we did on one of the cruises. On the 4 day one it was hodge podge and the service with every wait team we got was meh so I didn't feel the need to tip above and beyond what they automatically take out. I did leave extra tip for our cabin Steward however...

SMSACE6 Posted May 10, 2015 #20 Share Posted May 10, 2015 I do YDT every time and do not prepay the tips. thanks for this info...I really dont want to prepay this time, or if i do, will be much closer to sail date...dont see any reason why anyone should give their money for tips way in advance of the cruise! I will pay them, but just closer to cruise date, or once I am on board.
