Currently on Allure..5/11/15, drink prices astronomical...

A small splash at that. The Labadoozie I had tasted virgin. It was 14.16. It DID come with that "souvenir cup" though they probably buy for .25 a piece.

They were weak way back when. I kept asking my husband, 'you think there is alcohol in this?' Must be virgin by now.

I've never spent $14. for a drink anywhere, not in any American big city(NY, Boston, Atlanta, LA, Chicago, Det., etc.) or any European city,(London, Paris, Moscow, etc.) and never will!

I've never paid that much either. I just can't see spending that much for one drink.

On Freedom three years ago, we missed Coco Cay but they were serving Coco Locos at the pool. They were pretty good AND there were quiet a few pool waiters carrying around bottles of rum asking people if they "want some more medicine?"

I didnt see that the first time this cruise. I dont want a drink that is gonna be so strong, its nasty but if Im paying 14.16 for one, I DO at least want to tell there is some alcohol in it. ;)

They're not $800 either. There sure is alot of mis-information going on in this thread.

I don't doubt the price of the Labadee drinks are the same as the prices on the ship, but I'll believe it when I see it that they are using 6" cups.

OK, then what are the prices, since it seems everybody is saying they paid around $800 per couple.:).

Again, I think it was just a misunderstanding. Someone said the price of a package was $800. Everybody else is saying that they paid around $800 for TWO packages. So that's makes the price of a package about $400.

So, like I said, I don't think it was misinformation as much as a misunderstanding that the person who originally posted the $800 figure was really talking about the total cost for two, rather than the price of a package.

Agreed, one is talking per person, others are quoting per couple prices.:)

Today at Labadee, I purchased my first alcohol drink while at the beach. I received a 6" plastic cup of Labadoozie in it . Total cost was $14.25. This was not with the souvenir cup. I asked the bartender if the amount was correct as I was dumbfounded. He replied; yes it's the same as on the ship. I nicely informed him I had not purchased any alcohol onboard. My hubby and I plan to buy no more this week. We will only be drinking the wine we brought onboard. I am completely flabbergasted. We spoke to some other cruisers that just did an NCL and they said they were blown away by drink prices. They said they paid half to sail on the Getaway as they did the Allure. I have heard many complaints from other passengers about the alcohol prices.

thats why we got the unlimited drink package. We drink 4 drinks in a day and it more than pays for itself.

That's because the drink prices have gone up. Sort of like the BOGOHO. The price of the first one goes up, then the second person is half off. Not any type of real bargain.

At $14+ per drink, the package makes sense if one wants a few drinks. What doesn't make sence is the $14+ Per drink.

I've got to hand it to the RCCL suits for creating a reason for passengers to buy an overpriced drink package.

Well, I think the misunderstanding was that someone posted $800 for a 7-day package. That is not really true, but it's true, if (as I assume the poster meant) you're talking about two 7-day packages.

This. I was just quoting as it was posted and as it was posted for two would have been $1600. Huge difference.

I've always purhcased the premium pkg, well before the latest price increase. For us, it made sense then and even more so now.

I can see what your saying if you must have 4 or more drinks per day.

I can also see others saying they'd rather do without the 4 drinks, or spending $60. per person per day for the drink pkge..

We're lucky at least for now, we have the Casino Club to get free drinks if we want/need, and the D+ bene. of free drinks.

Beyond that, I won't spend a dime on booze.:)

I understand that the drink pkgs are not a one fit all kind of thing. But let's say a couple typically only has 2 drinks a day and they like the expensive drinks or the multi-blended drinks. The cost of these types of drinks increased $2/drink + 3% gratuity. At 2 drinks per day each person, we're talking a difference of $8/day/couple plus 3% gratuity over the previous prices. At 7 days, the increase is shy of $60 for the cruise. While I do understand that this is an increase, I also think that the price increase discussions are somewhat being overblown on the boards.

Update today from the OASIS. 😉 Last evening we finally spotted a movie in the Opal Theater for this evening. It was 3D so at least they are still showing them indoors. I can't comment on the outside screen in the aqua theater. I really don't care what stupid retorts I receive on here. I have not read every single drink thread on here. I read when I have a chance. Honestly, I guess I had to be given the receipt to sign for $14.00+ for my 6oz drink. 😱 We have had a few glasses of our wine since then but that a been about it. We have been drinking water and flavored water. I know marketing well and RC's goal is to make you

you so baffled by a single drink price that you will WANT that drink package. It failed with us very quickly and we have spoken to other passengers with the same thought . My prediction is that they are shooting themselves in the foot. Time will tell.

I agree, about shooting themselves in the foot. I used to buy about one drink per day, on average, and DH would have a couple of beers. Now it will be one beer a day for DH and our carry on wine - I won't pay $14 for a drink but it also isn't a big deal for me.

There's no more movies?

I'm interested in this one too. Can anyone else comment? It's not that I doubt the OP - but perhaps she just missed it in the Compass. And it's still early in the week. Maybe it hasn't come up yet.

Just checked my compasses from April and I only see one movie shown in the Opal Theater and it was on Day 6. There were several movies shown at the AquaTheater during the week and some family movies shown in the Adventure Ocean Theater.

Thanks. That's what I guessed - that it just hadn't come up yet on the Compass. Last time we were on, I think the indoor 3-D movie was towards the end of the week as well. Lucky for us, that was also an overcast, misty day so a good 2-hour movie was perfect!

The package is only overpriced if you can't get the value out of it. Just like going to a buffet for $24.95pp and eating only $12.95pp. We got the BOGOHO for two and it was $600. Our bar bill on a typical 7 day cruise is at least $1200. We don't drink frozen or mixed drinks usually, so there isn't the issue of watered down for us. Therefore, I feel that we are getting a better deal. After October, I will let you know if I still feel the same way.

Was it a 6" cup (original post) or a 6 oz. Cup (last post)?

Are you cross examining her over a drink post

She got a dumb slurpee for $14 and she's annoyed. I'm sure she will adjust her behavior. If she comes back and said she did it 12 more times you can rake her over the coals. If you really want to.

I am on this current Oasis sailing. They were using 12 oz plastic cups for the labadoozies on the island. They were also using the slightly larger souvenir cups (14 oz?). From what I could tell, they were charging the same price either way.

I never saw a point in complaining about the price. Either buy thing or don't.

We never buy a drink package, and we only buy drinks with available obc. So while it doesn't go as far as it used to, it's still a fantastic vacation.

So, asking for a clarification is "raking over the coals"? You're awfully sensitive. There's a difference, because a standard soda can (12oz) is about 5" tall. So, a 6" cup would be a reasonable serving. A 6oz cup is pretty tiny.

I was curious, myself, because I had seen both 6" and 6oz. But I resisted asking, because I figured someone would over-react to daring question the poster. I didn't think it would be quite as severe an overreaction as you demonstrated, though. Kudos.
