Gracie115 Posted May 23, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 23, 2015 My sister in law is a smoker and I am helping her with cabin selection and I know Churchills is a smoking lounge but I keep reading that it is a "cigar lounge" ..... is it almost always cigars, I don't want her to feel uncomfortable if so and right now she is positioned just above where she would only have to go down one floor to get there. Is there a better inside stateroom location for her to access a smoking area? Thanks for your help!!

I have seen more cigar smokers at night but they can be there anytime. Another cabin area to consider is aft on Riviera. There are exit doors to the Terrace Pool area and a smoking area exists there as well.

Since you mentioned "Churchills" maybe you are speaking about the Coral, Island or Caribbean Princess. Smoking areas on U.S./Europe based Princess ships are very limited. Indoors: The Cigar Bar and the Casino which does have some smoke free times. Since the cigar bar is the only location on the ship which officially allows cigar and pipe smoking this is where all these passengers go. Of course you can duck in there for a cigarette. Skywalker's (if your ship has one) generally has a smoking section after 10pm. During the day it is smoke free. Outdoors: Most ships usually have a limited area on the deck above the lido pool near the bar. There is normally a small section of the promenade deck where smoking is permitted. It is where the special fire containers for smoking materials are attached to the wall, and is generally all the way aft. On Princess ships, except for the small section, the promenade is non smoking. On the Caribbean Princess the port side of the Horizon Terrace will be a smoking area. I know there are some passengers that select a cabin on aft on deck 14 so they can walk out and up one deck to the smoking area. Smoking is not permitted in any cabin nor on any balcony. I was speaking about the Regal. From what I can see of the deck plans if she booked on deck 14 she would have to walk or take the elevator up three floors to deck where the Terrace Pool is, or am I reading those plans incorrectly? Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the help. There is also a designated smoking area on Promenade Deck (Deck 7) aft, Starboard side. You could book Caribe Deck (Deck 10) aft, and it would be a three deck walk down. :D Edited May 23, 2015 by dmwnc1959

The Terrace Pool is 3 decks up from deck 14.

Thanks for the help. No, you are reading the Deck Plans correctly. The smoking area is Aft on Deck 17. From what I saw, there is coffee there. THAT made me feel much better....she doesn't smoke that much...but she's also somewhat challenged by walking long distances and the room she's in now D315 is close to elevator. So unless deck plans are wrong she would only have to hop on, go down 3 floors and from what I can see Churchills is just off the elevators. Is that correct? OCruisers Posted May 24, 2015 #16 Share Posted May 24, 2015 Gracie ... If you are able to tolerate smoke for a while, it might be nice to go with your sister-in-law the first time. While farther from her cabin, she actually might enjoy the outside smoking area occasionally on a pretty at sea day so maybe you could help her find that one as well. LuLu Oh I will and am sending her all the deck plans showing her the various smoking areas.....she wanted something easy access to her stateroom and Churchill's does that but I suspect on sea days especially she will be at the outdoor ones... Thanks!!:)

I'm sure it's the lack of taxes

Seems there are several brands of those great big Churchill cigars for sell in the cigar bars on Princess ships.
