Chef's Table on Celebrity

Our first Celebrity cruise is approaching. We have 6 previous sailings on other cruise lines, our last few have been on NCL. While on NCL we have always been able to book a "chef's table" dinner that is limited to the first 12 that sign up. It is a wondrous 9 course meal with very generous fine wine pairings.

 

I have seen mention of it here but cannot find any info on Celebrity's website. I saw a mention on an Eclipse thread where there was a pic of a private dining area within Murano but it was a table for 6 and he said the chef's table menu was actually regular Murano menu items.

 

Can anyone elaborate further?

Celebrity does do a chef's table. However it can not be booked in advance. Contact the maître de once on board to arrange one or to join one

The Chef's Table is offered on most cruises provided there is sufficient demand. They will sometimes offer multiple Chef's Table if thee is more demand than be accommodated on one. It is unlikely to be advertised because of the limited availability and you need to register your interest with the maitre d' specialty restaurants as early as possible.

 

It costs $279 per couple and includes one copy of the "Excite the Senses" cookbook and a photograph. It is not a nine course meal. Our latest Chef's Table was amuse bouche, starter, soup/salad, main course, palate cleanser cheese course, desert and coffee & petite fours with wine pairing.

 

Originally, on M-class ships, it was held in the main galley but the is no longer done on safety grounds. On S-class ships, it is likely to be held in the Wine Cellar [the small room you mentioned] which holds more than 6 people. On our latest cruise, on Millennium, it was held in the main section of the Olympic [not the Wine Cellar]. It will often be hosted by an officer but, should the numbers be too high, that seat may be used for a paying guest instead.

 

In the past, the menu was very similar to the normal Murano [and equivalent] menu but they are now trying to add more variety. Menu and food-wise, our latest Chef's Table was the best so far [out of six or seven].

You probably won't see much if anything published about the Chef's Table however =X= has offered a Chef's Table on every cruise we have been on.

 

Go see the Maitre D at Muranos or the Tuscan Grill and ask. Either should be able to make reservations for you. The Chef's Table has been held in different places depending on which class of ship we were on. On the Century and the Connie it was held on a table set up in a part of the galley itself. On the Eclipse it was held in the wine cellar alcove room in Muranos.

 

We have done four Chef Table dinners over the years. Three of the four were pinnacle experiences that were delightful in every way. The fourth one was so bad both with the service and the food that we vowed to never do another one. Bear in mind that the price has risen to over two hundred dollars per couple which made it a very expensive debacle for that last one we went to.

We were on the Solstice last week and signed up for the Chef's Table. We found out about it while dining in Murano and decided to try it. It was held at Murano's in a small, private room within the restaurant. There were 4 couples (including us) and the menu was put together by the Chef. One of the dessert offerings was his own chocolate cake recipe.

We enjoyed the food, the wine and the company - we would do it again.

 

Note: It's not a 9 course meal as someone already mentioned but if you choose one of each of the offerings it's a 6 course. If I can figure out how to post a pic on here I'll post the menu we had.

I have been to several "Chef's Table" dinners over the years.

 

You need to ask if they will be having one on your cruise after you board

the ship. They always have a minimum amount of people needed.
