VPKara Posted June 12, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 12, 2015 We have one night of specialty dining paid for by our travel agent. Where do you recommend that we (husband and I) go? Doesn't need to be most expensive, but just an overall good meal and experience.
Yorkvillain Posted June 12, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 12, 2015 We have one night of specialty dining paid for by our travel agent. Where do you recommend that we (husband and I) go? Doesn't need to be most expensive, but just an overall good meal and experience. You have a few options but it should really come down to what you prefer. So I would say Giovanni's or Chops - depending on whether you prefer steak or Italian. 150 Central Park is another option although I am not a big fan of that place. But don't take my word for it since everyone has different tastes.
csnarpy Posted June 12, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 12, 2015 I'd pick Chops for sure. If it's valid for the Chef's table then get that.
grandgeezer Posted June 12, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 12, 2015 I would do the Brazilian steak house, I think it's called Sambas. We've done them all and it's the only one we went back to for a second time. Best value for the dollar.

tomatosauce Posted June 12, 2015 #6 Share Posted June 12, 2015 Have a look at the menus online. If you are happy with the Chops menu which is more limited than Giovanni's then go with Chops. Otherwise go with Giovannis. Both are great but the range as Chops can be a bit short of options.
Clarea Posted June 12, 2015 #7 Share Posted June 12, 2015 I'd go with Giovanni's. We have not been impressed with the quality of steak at Chops lately.
papaflamingo Posted June 12, 2015 #8 Share Posted June 12, 2015 I agree with Bob, but then again, Bob is normally spot on. :) I loved Chops but it's gone down hill. But love Giovanni's. But one consideration is using the free one at Chops then do Giovanni's for lunch. A bit more limited menu, but very nice. If 150 Central Park is an option, do that. It's a gourmet tasting menu and a very nice experience. But you do need to be adventurous. Same with Chef's Table But my guess is it won't be usable for those two events. Grandma Dazzles Posted June 12, 2015 #10 Share Posted June 12, 2015 Love Giovanni's! Ate there last week on the Independence. Friend had the filet and said it was excellent - so you can get a steak there if one person really prefers Italian.
jticarruthers Posted June 12, 2015 #11 Share Posted June 12, 2015 Echoing the vote on Chops, 3 years ago I would have said hands down, Chops is great. The experience has been steadily weaker each time though over the last 3 years. It is still a "good" meal but nothing special at this point. Tried Sambas (Brazilian) on Allure last year, I thought it was ok, rest of the party wasn't impressed with one coming down with food poisoning (lesson of the day: never eat salmon off the appetizer buffet when they are going to bring you all you can eat meat at your table!) I would say give Giovanni's a try :), but If the menu doesn't appeal Chops is a solid choice.
