Jules6638 Posted June 18, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2015 Has anyone used the photo pkg for $249 for all the photos? I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it. Does it include the portraits you sit for?
cruisingsince94 Posted June 18, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 18, 2015 Not for us. Regardless of how many photos they take throughout the cruise we rarely find more than 4 or 5 we like. That includes those we do on photo nights. As diamond members we each get 1 for free, so even if we buy 5 others it's only $100. We have yet to do even that. gigi65 Posted June 19, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 19, 2015 We thought it was a great price. We left with over 80 photos plus the CD. I was pleased- that being said, since we were paying for unlimited photos, we made sure to go to each floor for pictures before dinner., and at each port. Clarea Posted June 19, 2015 #5 Share Posted June 19, 2015 Can you buy it once on the ship?? Or just before. You can buy it on the ship, but I believe it's more expensive on board.
heziggy Posted June 19, 2015 #6 Share Posted June 19, 2015 in october we were on the explorer and paid $349 unlimited photos. we ended up taking formal and casual pics plus port pictures. we ame home with over 220 pictures. we felt it was a good deal and more than half the pictures were pretty good. we also used it as our family portraits that we only have taken every few years. sailor05 Posted June 19, 2015 #7 Share Posted June 19, 2015 It's showing $349 for our upcoming cruise. Way to steep for me. Maybe if it were my first cruise....
Truluv Posted June 19, 2015 #8 Share Posted June 19, 2015 (edited) Since they started selling the unlimited packages, I've noticed it's harder and harder to get pictures. There can be huge lines for photos, since so many people apparently buy the packages and want to get their money's worth. We were in line for more than 45 minutes trying to get a single family picture on a staircase on Allure (family tradition to get the staircase photo on each ship). Still, it seems worth it if you want a larger selection of photos. I bought the disk once and and it was nice to be able to pick & choose (and photoshop) at home. Cruise a holic Posted June 19, 2015 #9 Share Posted June 19, 2015 (edited) Has anyone used the photo pkg for $249 for all the photos? I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it. Does it include the portraits you sit for? Have used the package multiple times. It is the only "bargain" on the ship. It does not include private portrait seatings. Each picture can cost up to $25 per- so you can do the math- we typically take 150 pictures! So many options and stations daily- Unfortunately on the Quantum they didn't have the great package and picture cost and small packages very expensive- I guess RC got greedy. But that was also evident on that ship in so many areas. While we did have some lines, certainly not as long as the restaurant lines, even with reservations on the Quantum. Hopefully RC, Celebrity and Disney will continue doing business with mycruisephotos.com in the future on all of the other ships and offer the great packages. Enjoy your cruise. CruiseDude_83 Posted June 25, 2015 #12 Share Posted June 25, 2015 Are there any specific rules to the unlimited photos - we have 12 family members staying in 4 cabins.... can we get ALL of our photos? You get the photos of the ones that you are in. On our last cruise we got the package and any photo my wife, daughter or myself were in. This included any photos that our daughter took with the grandparents (people who did not have the package). It was a great way to get a lot of photos of our daughters first cruise. The package is cheaper the first night maybe second when you buy on board. I think it was the same price as online so $250 then it went up to $299 the after that early sale. davidwar Posted June 25, 2015 #13 Share Posted June 25, 2015 I bought the package from mycruisephotos.com for $249.99 for my upcoming cruise on Liberty on 7/30. I also bought it 2 years ago. I get all pictures taken of me and my family, but you don't get prints, only a CD with all the digital files.

CruisingSince2012 Posted June 25, 2015 #15 Share Posted June 25, 2015 Why pay all that $$$ bring a camera. Your little point and shoot can't take professional formal pictures. The quality is a lot better with a photographer with a DSLR who knows stuff about posing and backgrounds and you want the best pictures possible on formal nights. Also, by having a sit-down with a photographer, you won't have to worry about anybody else getting in the picture. I think just doing it will be fun even if I only like one. Of course, you don't know what kind of cameras other people are bringing. I personally bring a DSLR for on board use and a point and shoot for excursions. I just don't see my family getting enough pictures to make the package worth it. Without looking for photo ops, I think my family of 5 ended up having 20-30 pictures taken on our week long cruise. That included pictures before formal night and pictures taken as we got off the ship in each port. Yes, if you can get 100+ photos, then maybe the package is worth it, but that's not something I want to do on a cruise. To each their own.

smwg Posted June 25, 2015 #18 Share Posted June 25, 2015 I got the package with my family last year. Just make sure your whole family is "onboard" with the photo opportunities. Everytime we saw a new background we got in line for another picture. My kids were surprisingly very cooperative. My parents were onboard too, so I had pictures made with them, as well. I don't regret the couple hundred bucks, but I wouldn't do it every time. I took all the pictures (did not get the cd) and put them in an album. If you haven't had family pictures in a while, this is a great opportunity.:)

Nice to see kids growing but not so nice when you are older! However the alternative isn't great! Lol
JulieRose Posted June 25, 2015 #20 Share Posted June 25, 2015 We got it on XoS but I am unsure we will get it again. We'll probably opt for the 10 photo package. Ultimately it felt like we were spending more time waiting in line to get our photos taken than enjoying being there.

NCteacherlovescruising Posted June 29, 2015 #22 Share Posted June 29, 2015 I just checked into this for our upcoming Oasis cruise it's $349 for all digital pictures. No way my husband will go for that. He hates taking them anyway and now I'm reading of long lines. I want to have fun on our cruise, not wait in lines. I think we will just buy a couple onboard, although I would love to come home with all those pictures!

I think we will just buy a couple onboard, although I would love to come home with all those pictures! Lines really weren't that long. You will be able to take at least 6 pictures at 4-6 stations per night could be a few dozen per evening. The package includes boarding pictures, dining room pics, port pictures as well as some misc pictures that the photographer takes during the voyage- You get all pictures and when you are home print out the pictures you like best. While when you hear $349- and think that is the cost of about 12 -14 pictures, it really isn't exorbitant- but to each his or her own. We think that it is well worth it and order on line books from the usual vendors at home.- Some people will spend much more then that at the Casino or for cigarettes- which I do not understand. However it is your vacation and you should spend your vacation budget how you want to. Enjoy Edited June 29, 2015 by Cruise a holic
tribefan Posted June 29, 2015 #24 Share Posted June 29, 2015 When we were on the Oasis 2 years ago, I bought the unlimited package prior to sailing, when we got onboard, there was a coupon in our book for a discount (diamond) which made it cheaper. It was a total pain in the butt to get the money credited back to us. They told me I had to purchase the package again and then they would credit the 1st purchase. When we got home I checked the CC and there was not credit, took several calls to finally get it done!! From now on, I would just buy it onboard
