hopeless holiday booker Posted September 1, 2015 #126 Share Posted September 1, 2015 Delayed boarding is a pain but worth it if you avoid it on your cruise. It really didn't spoil our enjoyment just make sure keep your hands as clean as possible and touch as few surfaces as possible. You'll still have a great time. R&M1000 Posted September 1, 2015 #127 Share Posted September 1, 2015 I've attached the letter we were given on August 1 when we checked in. I really can not agree with the issues some have voiced here on my sailing due to the virus. The inconveniences were so insignificant, that they really do not warrant being blown out of proportion here, like not having a menu door tag for breakfast ordering, since there's an interactive menu available through your room television. Yes, we couldn't fill our plates ourselves at the buffet, so the staff dished out the items you wanted, but as someone posted here earlier "the barnyard habits of many folks leave a lot to be desired" was eliminated. Pushka Posted September 1, 2015 #130 Share Posted September 1, 2015 (edited) Goodness knows. It was items like the Room Service Menu, Room Service breakfast door hangers, pillow menus - all the stuff in the little folder. The old stuff is returned I think? Didnt look new when it came back. I posted about the breakfast hanger simply because someone asked about the paper items that were removed from the cabin. So not sure why you inferred I had an issue and was complaining about their removal. While I agree that behaviour can sometimes be disturbing at the buffet, frequently at breakfast we gave up trying to get toast and ended up with a piece of fruit because the queues to get food there because of no self serve were awful. Even getting a drink of water/tea was taking too long. Edited September 1, 2015 by Pushka

Suite Susie Posted September 2, 2015 #132 Share Posted September 2, 2015 Code red is still in place. Still having fun, seas are a flat calm but it has been way too hot! The staff are working so hard with sanitisation so hopefully it might be lifted before we get off, but I don't think it will be. The Martini bar is just not the same without the ice. At the flash sales, the tables are roped off so you can't pick anything up, but the staff will show you something. Would like to go back to the casino, but this area worries me a bit! hopeless holiday booker Posted September 2, 2015 #133 Share Posted September 2, 2015 worries you because you don't want to come back and have to sell the house! Don't worry - enjoy and do whatever you want to do just wash your hands after you've played.
Pushka Posted September 2, 2015 #134 Share Posted September 2, 2015 (edited) Yes. The Martini Bar is fun with ice. Was so pleased when that became functional. Sales will be down at the shops then. Our cruise was super hot too. My iphone even overheated and it shut down. Edited September 2, 2015 by Pushka
ScubesDad Posted September 2, 2015 #135 Share Posted September 2, 2015 I read this thread with interest as we also had an outbreak on the Silhouette Aug 8 sailing. We awoke on day 3 to a deep cleaning underway...and it peaked at about 40 people being affected and lasted until about day 11 before they started to relax the restrictions. One observation I made was how you just can't fix "stupid". We decided to grab a continental breakfast at the Captain's Club Coffee Break as it was very quick even with the restrictions in place ( a staff member served you as you walked around the buffet table and poured the juice)...much quicker than anywhere else. One morning in the midst of the outbreak, a couple approached a table by the window which had not been cleared due to the extra work being placed on the staff....after looking around for a minute or so and "huffing" a few times, they picked up the dirty napkins and plates and moved them to another table, grabbed fresh silverware and then sat down at the table.....and we wonder why the virus keeps spreading
Rare hcat Posted September 2, 2015 #136 Share Posted September 2, 2015 Has anyone kept track of how long these outbreaks linger on ships usually? How do they isolate crew members who are ill with Noro? Seems it has been a problem on Equinox for quite awhile...hope it will peter out soon. Velvetwater Posted September 2, 2015 #137 Share Posted September 2, 2015 (edited) I was on the same sailing as Pushka.. The library books were not removed and the shop items where always unrestricted (even the make up samples) to pick up and look at. I am wondering if it is a little more widespread on the current cruise? We never got any paper menus even when the code red lifted. We had to ask for robes and our tote bag too..maybe our steward was new? The buffet situation was frustrating but I could deal with everything else. An officer told us that the code red was on for an extra day or so because the Captain wanted to be cautious...maybe his efforts had a point. Wj420 Posted September 5, 2015 #144 Share Posted September 5, 2015 Am I understanding they are delaying the next sailing by one day? Cleaning the ship for an entire day? Will this finally be the final punch to get this ship healthy? I'm sorry for the missed day for the next cruisers but it certainly sounds like this ship needs the added attention. Cant imagine how this will be dealt with for embarking passengers in Barcelona. Our hotel was full the day we left last month.

Will this finally be the final punch to get this ship healthy? I'm sorry for the missed day for the next cruisers but it certainly sounds like this ship needs the added attention. That's what happened in the past on different cruise lines when they had several noro cases and didn't get rid off it. They need a whole day for cleaning/inspection. The last time this happened was only few month ago on HAL I think after several cruises with noro. First thing is that the next guest have a delayed boarding so staff have some hours more to clean. If this doesn't solve the problem they will cut one day, but they might cut the current cruise if possible. Good thing is that on this particular cruise they got rid off the virus finally. However, Celebrity should inform their passanger's for the upcoming sailing on Sept 7th what they should do (esp. where they should stay cause the one night if they cut it that way) and what changes to the itinerary there will be - I guess they have to skip one port. Tiggertastic Posted September 5, 2015 #147 Share Posted September 5, 2015 We are onboard right now. Lots of precautions in place. Library books removed, hand gel stations everywhere, served in buffet etc and no ice on martini bar. Had not spoilt our trip in any way, just giving ourselves more time to do things like breakfast being served. Not heard of any delay onboard for next cruise

Nothing official re delay on Sept 7th depart, just something our waiter said. Am thinking that if it is correct, then the next lot of passengers would have been advised by now. What is the "roll-call" saying ?
Suite Susie Posted September 5, 2015 #149 Share Posted September 5, 2015 Hi every one. We've heard today also that there are 300 plus down with the virus. Feeling the need to avoid too many public spaces which is a shame. Hope they can get this sorted for the next cruise- it's not fun.

Perhaps decision to delay boarding has yet to be made... is there any requirement for a public health inspection if certain number of cases over certain period of time reported?
