She broke 8 of the 11 items that will they say will get you kicked off.

...this is quoting an article published on the Cruisecritic website, which listed the 11 things to not do if you do not want to be removed from the ship, e.g., kicked off. Kind CC readers may view the article at the URL below: http://www.cruisecritic.com/articles.cfm?ID=1554.
Inquiring minds want to know - which 8 did she break? :D
Smoking on balconies is easy to enforce.
The difference is that Carnival has a policy of to never enforce any rule they make. After all, the $50.00 a day room, is tough enough to fill without alienating too many people. :D
They may not always enforce every rule perfectly (I seriously doubt there is any company anywhere that does), but I seriously doubt they "have a policy" to never enforce the rules they have in place.
I'd say her claim about being compensated with a free cruise is B.S. If Carnival compensated every passenger that had a complaint about something by giving a free cruise, Carnival would lose a lot of money. Even though smoking on the balconies has been banned, it's kind of tough to enforce. There is no walkway along the outside of the ship where a security person could walk along looking for violators. And if you've got cabins above, below, and on either side of you, how can you pinpoint exactly where the smoke is coming from? If you happen to have a cabin that is directly below the designated smoking area on the ship, then the smoke wouldn't necessarily be coming from someone's balcony anyhow.
This happened to me on Celebrity back in 2011. Our next door neighbors were smoking on their balcony even though it was not allowed. I knew it was them because we could hear them out there lighting cigarette after cigarette. Both of them had a pretty bad smokers cough. So not only could we smell it but the ambiance was completely ruined by hearing someone hack up phlegm ever 3 minutes.

I complained several times about the smoking (I didn't mention the coughing) and I don't think anyone did anything about it. There was no update or response, just "we will look into it". It continued all week. I have asthma and I couldn't sit on my balcony at all the entire trip. It really sicked.

I didn't even get an apology from the cruise line, let alone a free cruise! Not that I expected one from that, but an apology would have been nice, or at the very least an attempt to fix the problem.

About two weeks ago someone posted this very question to John Heald and he not only denied that anyone has ever gotten a free cruise because of complaining about cigarette smoke he also laughed about it...

I have seen the letter telling passengers that they are banned for life from Carnival and all their sister companies, in this case it was because of a # of reasons..

1. The female seriously pushed passengers from a wedding party to be the First to the Red Frog.

2. She was continually told that she was not allowed to vape wherever she wanted to, would put it out, the crew member would leave and she would start again... Caught doing this several times

3. At the trivia game, someone beat her by 1 and she grabbed the paper out of the passengers hand to check his answers

I can't remember some of the other things she did but this woman was a menace and horrible to be around... Now some other cruise line has to deal with her...

I’d like to know too! I’m assuming she didn’t get really sick, refuse to go through screening, make a bomb threat, or fail to show correct travel documents. I just can’t reasonably see Carnival (or any cruise line) letting any of those go for even a second.

So I’m assuming she must have skipped the muster drill, brought drugs/illegal items on board, bought a minor a drink, engaged in disorderly conduct, organized her own tours, stole things, and was abusive to the captain or crew. But even some of that seems really far-fetched. She really organized her own tour?? Really? Skipped the muster drill and no one noticed? Was abusive to people and it was tolerated?

Seriously, I’m a little worried about Carnival’s security and level of concern for the safety of their guests and crew if this many things piled up before she got kicked off. Organizing a tour is the only thing I can even remotely imagine them letting go. The rest are an enormous liability.

The B.S. meter is dinging like crazy. No one would be banned for any of those reasons
sorry, just do not believe this story, there is no way CCL would kick you off a ship for smoking, even weed, which we have smelled on CCL ships as well.
Wrong, in St Thomas law plus FBI with dog kicked the people off in suite next to ours for weed or drugs or both.

Hope they did get kicked off, read the terms and conditions that you have to accept as part of the on line check in process:

Any and all forms of smoking, including but not limited to, cigarettes, cigars, electronic cigarettes, and personal vaporizers, are strictly prohibited onboard except in designated exterior open deck areas, certain night clubs, and designated areas in the casino. All staterooms and suite accommodations are entirely smoke free, including the outside balcony (Effective October 9, 2014). Guest agrees to strictly comply with Carnival’s non-smoking policy. Guest further acknowledges and agrees that any violation of this policy shall, in the sole discretion of Carnival, constitute a material breach of this cruise contract. In the event of such breach, Guest forfeits all rights hereunder, including the right to remain on board. Carnival reserves the right to disembark the Guest(s), at any port, as determined by Carnival. Carnival shall not be liable for any refund or other compensation or ...

Not true, they most certainly DO kick off pax for smoking weed/any drugs....we have been on 2 different cruises (both to Jamaica) where pax were sent "packing"......one was a cabin 2 down from us......security surrounded them and stuck around as they packed and got the boot and escorted OFF the ship!
