We are off on our first Holland America cruise today to Alaska! I'm a little upset that after a beautiful streak of weather, it looks absolutely miserable (lots of rain in all ports)... But hoping to at least get some good views and see some wildlife. :)

Ignore the weather forecast - they are seldom right.:D You will have a fabulous time anyway. Lovely here in Vancouver, our weather often follows up the coast. Think positive. Happy cruising!

Have a great cruise and enjoy Alaska, rain or shine. I'm sorry it is not a better day in Vancouver. We have had such a hot dry summer, it's hard to accept today's weather. You will certainly need a jacket for muster drill.

My first cruise was on HAL to Alaska. Rained every day. I had a great time and have been cruising ever since. Alaska is so magnificent that even less than ideal weather can't detract from its beauty.

While we naturally wanted good, sunny, dry weather for our Alaska vacation, we reminded ourselves we were there to see Alaska for what it actually was. And indeed on our trip this meant seeing Alaskans wearing ski parkas in June. This was their Alaska. I admire them for it. Same thing recently in Norway.
