Haven treats when you have a bunch of freeloaders

I am getting married on the Getaway in December. My fiancee and I booked a Haven Spa room. Several of our family members booked the balcony rooms right down the hall from us.

Lots of them will be visiting our cabin. Anyone have any experience telling their butler about this and having them bring extra snacks?

I thought about giving him a tip when we got on and saying we were going to have a bunch of free loading family visiting us and seeing if that helped.

Somehow I don't think calling your wedding guests who have gone through the trouble and expense to be with you "freeloaders" will endear you to your butler. :(

Might not endear the guests either! If the guests knew they might skip the wedding and go to OShennanns instead!

I guess I will not try my new stand up material on you guys. Clearly you don't find anything funny.

I don't really want to have a party in my room, but we will be having our beloved guests visiting our room often. During their visit which we will truly cherish and be honored with their presence, they will probably swipe some of our snacks. As we love them so we do not want to have to say hands off my cookies. That is why I wanted to inquire with my most skilled butler about maybe having more snacks.

Family or not, I wouldn't ever welcome wedding guests into my honeymoon suite. That's going a bit far. If you want to show a few for a minute, then fine. I'd make things easy by saying the honeymoon suite is for the bride and groom only. Others coming and going isn't necessary.

Edit: I took the freeloader comment as a joke. Ignore the sticks in the mud. :)

A spa suite really isn't the kind of suite to bring guests back to, not to hang out in, anyway. Not sure if you ever saw one or not.

Congrats on your up coming wedding. I just looked at the floor plan of your cabin. I really don't think it is made for lots of visitors, you have one chair and one sofa. I would ask for a few extra snacks as you are expecting guest. However I really like the idea that you show the room one time and then it is off limits for guests !

Maybe you could meet daily at the Sunset Bar on Deck 8 at 4:30 pm ?

Just keep telling them about the awesome food at the buffet and O'Sheehan's...make sure they're too full to swipe your snacks! (seriously, it's not like anyone ever lacks free food on board a cruise ship...)

I don't think we will be having any parties. But we are the only experienced cruisers going and I imagine we will have a couple people coming by every so often. Not a big group of 10 showing up at once.

You can make a standing order with you butler. Just tell him everyday, when he brings the hors d'ouerves, to please also bring ____________ fill in the blank with whatever you want him to bring. Cookies, sandwiches, buffalo wings, you name it, they have it.

The Spa Suite is not all that large. It is good for maybe 4 - 5 people max due to the lack of seating. 3 could fit on the sofa and one on the chair and then you and your new spouse could sit on the bed, I suppose. But some of the spa suites don't have the sofa, just 2 chairs! Some also have a support pole kind of in the middle of the room. Alternatively you might consider upgrading to one of The Haven Aft Facing Penthouses with Master bedroom then just buy spa passes for the duration of the cruise - you can purchase these online. The Aft Facing Penthouse would be better for visitors as it has a living room and a powder room, then a separate bedroom with a luxury bathroom with separate shower and tub - it's very nice!

I liked the penthouse better, but my fiancee really wanted the hot tub and like a good future husband that means we got the hot tub.

That sounds like a smart move on your behalf... :p

Like others have stated before me, you can pretty much ask the butler to bring you whatever you like. I once asked the butler to please bring me some cheese and crackers (for 1 person) in the afternoon, and ended up getting a cheese plate every afternoon that could feed 4 persons (!) - all though I several times stated that it was only for me.... He also delivered some chips and cookies when we asked for it.

We once had a Haven spa suite on the Epic, and I was actually a little bit disappointed with the size of the room, as it was not that large and the jacuzzi took up very much of the space. But the bathroom was really nice, and the access to the Haven area on board made it absolutely worth it for us.

Exactly this. One can't even eat breakfast or dinner properly in the suite just between the two occupants, let alone hosting extra people there - even if just visiting.

The tub in the penthouse is about the same size - it just doesn't have jets, but the shower in the penthouse is drastically better (similar to the showers in the spa), then you have the separate bedroom and living room/dining room plus the huge balcony with the penthouse.

We were in a Spa Suite on the Getaway last month, our butler was awesome and actually brought at least two plates of snacks everyday. Sometimes two and a bowl of peanut M&Ms and you should get some chocolate covered strawberries. Like everyone else says - the room is fairly small - and I'd say you couldn't sit more than two people comfortably on what they call the couch. The hot tub is just a bathtub with jets in the room. It'd be exciting for your honeymoon, but I'd book an aft-penthouse if we go on one of the large ships again. You'll have a great time either way. You might be able to work with the group coordinator to set up a group get-together in one of the bars and you could order snacks. Like they do the Meet N Greets.

JMO but a spa suite is not the best place for entertaining a bunch of relatives sailing with you on your honeymoon. You might have an image of a much different room than is what you will occupy.

All best wishes for your upcoming marriage. :)

Pick a meeting up place on the ship and everyone can get their own refreshments.

Hey I've got some friends and relatives that I know good and hell well are freeloaders

Be sure to show your "freeloading" friends this post- I am sure they will appreciate it, given they likely took time off from work and are paying for the cruise as well.

Why do some people just want to start an argument on here?

If in doubt, blame FDR.

I often have people coming and going from my cabin, doesn't really matter what grade it is. I don't think the OP wanted a full scale catered rave in their spa suite. You can just ask the butler for what you want, and always order from the room service if you have people hanging out. Bring two or more plates of fruit, canapes, cookies is well within their reach.

Just a reminder that when your cabin is in the Haven no one can just "drop by".

All doors to the to Haven area are key access for Haven guests only - so you will have to go let them in and escort them to your cabin.

Actually the Haven spa suites are on deck 14 and are adjacent to to non-Haven balconies and mini-suites so in this case, they can drop by.
