kakalina Posted January 23, 2010 #76 Share Posted January 23, 2010 A clear, over the door shoe holder. It holds all my cosmetics, his stuff, most personal care items etc. Sure leaves the small counter area a lot clearer.

donaldsc Posted February 17, 2010 #78 Share Posted February 17, 2010 A cloth laundry bag-and quarters to use the washer/dryer if you must. . We used our pillow case. One less useless thing to bring. DON
donaldsc Posted February 17, 2010 #79 Share Posted February 17, 2010 A couple more things I forgot below: = = Extra hangers - I always bring a few wire hangers.. great for hanging up more stuff in the closet of the cabin; OR hanging up wet clothes to drip dry in the shower... If the cabin attendant does not bring me extra hangers if I need them - there goes the tip. Why bring more useless stuff. DON
scottbee Posted February 19, 2010 #80 Share Posted February 19, 2010 In these days of pay extra/bag for flying, we try and keep it minimalist Tons of stuff is available just for the asking; Extra Hangers: Just ask the cabin attendant Laundry Bags: Ask the cabin attendant for a couple of extra garbage bin liners, and use as hamper, just toss in bottom of closet. Need more room in cabin?: Ask the cabin attendant to get rid of the silly little round table Duct Tape: Do you really think they don't have any on board? I haven't asked for it, but lots of people I know have Alcohol Wipes: Check out the casino cage for them (in the days of coin slots all casino cages had them). Or; is just overkill; Power Bar: How many things do you need to charge at once? Also, these days a lot of things just charge off a USB connection, so I just plug them into my (tiny) laptop Shoe holders: How many pairs of shoes do you bring? Laundry Hampers: (see above) Or I bought onboard small soft-sided cooler (order 5 beers and it was free, a bunch of us sat on deck and drank all afternoon) Sewing Kit. Blew a button on something, was surprised a small sewing kit on board was only $2 But I will admit to bringing and think is useful for the following: Small Backpack; great for shore excursions Post it notes; leave notes for my DW on the mirror with them. a couple of small bulldog clips (generally holding paperwork when I start, but handy for a lot of things) And will bring next time Highlighter (thank you - smart idea) Cough drops (they were really expensive on board) And possibly the most important thing; Pack a one-page travel itinerary, by date, with flights/hotels/car/cruise confirmation numbers along with phone numbers. And pack it in an outer pocket of EVERY SUITCASE. If the case gets lost, the airline will then know how to find you. It's also the only piece of paper you need when traveling, rather than having to fish out the right printout every time.
downsized Posted February 19, 2010 #81 Share Posted February 19, 2010 Something that I found at Staples last weekend. A travel surge protector, rated at 918 joules. It's quite small, the prongs fold in for travelling, and it has three 3 pronged outlets, along with two USB charging ports! It also has a green light to let you kow that it is working. $18.00! DW and I can now charge both phones, while still having three outlets availible!
FritzG Posted February 20, 2010 #82 Share Posted February 20, 2010 I agree with an earlier poster, get an extra pillow case and use it for laundry. We tend to take longer cruises with many sea days, and it seems like one of us always gets a cold. A couple of years ago we paid $20 for American cough syrup in Sardinia. Ever since we have carried some cold remedies. The new Robitussin single doses are great for traveling.
KCcruisin07 Posted February 28, 2010 #83 Share Posted February 28, 2010 Memory cards for camera: there is nothing worse than trying to take a picture of a memorable tourist site and not having any more room. (What can you erase from the last port?) It gets worse if you have to run from one store to another to find one instead of enjoying the trip. KCcruisin07 Posted February 28, 2010 #84 Share Posted February 28, 2010 Discovering your memory card is out of room when you are trying to take a picture of a famous site is not good. (What can you erase from the last port?) It gets worse if you have to run from one store to another to find another memory card instead of enjoying the trip. Next time I am taking a couple of extras. I like to take masking tape. I use it on tops of containers of liquids and gels (and put them in a Ziplok bag.) They are also handy for items with sharp edges like cuticle scissors and tweezers. I liked the tip about alcohol swabs to clean certain parts of the room. I have got to stop reading these tips or I will be way over the weight limit!
sallygator Posted February 28, 2010 #85 Share Posted February 28, 2010 I found that covering the window of the Navigator PR interior room let me leave the curtains open and no one could see in from across the way. I used a cheap dollar store door covering (intended for a party) and taped it on. it was light to pack. I used dollar store decorations table at July 4th Inspiration cruise. Love the suggestions for pillowcase and ziploc usage- bungee and drinking reuseable cups/bottles. Will use them in April along with my Zyrtec, laptop for games when I dont feel like socialising topsides.:)

mejoe39 Posted March 5, 2010 #88 Share Posted March 5, 2010 Even if you use sunblock there are times when you stay out longer than you should and realize it at the end of the day after your shower. So I would recommend adding a bottle of the sunburn medication (gel) to the first aid kit. It has come in hand a couple of times. Especially after spending time at Orient Beach in St. Marteen. bkecky Posted April 5, 2010 #89 Share Posted April 5, 2010 I always take a champagne stopper for when we can't finish the sailaway bottle and for occasions when we buy ashore but can't finish it. At first we wasted too much or ended up taking the whole bottle home, which didn't really help our luggage issue!

Just a little note to your post...the shoe holder is not for shoes...it is to hang over the bathroom door or whatever door you choose...to hold various items...I use one in the bathroom on the back of the door to hold our shampoos, body washes, razors, and misc. items that we use in the bathroom..and it hangs so conveniently that all we have to do is reach out of the shower to grab what we need and replace when done and there isn't a lot of stuff in the shower or all over the vanity.....:)

paul8 Posted May 23, 2010 #94 Share Posted May 23, 2010 camera and/or video cam. I recharge the digital camera battery every few days, the cell phone every few days but do not use the cell phone due to the outrageous fees on board. A clock?, my internal clock wakes me up. Some of the other suggestions are helpful but add extra weight. Have to read this thread over again.

Hope123 Posted July 24, 2010 #97 Share Posted July 24, 2010 :o My DH and I both have CPAPs. We forgot to bring extension cord to plug into the wall. The outlet was on the other side of our cabin. BIG problem, but the staff found an extension cord for us right away...thank goodness! Seven days with no sleep is not how we wanted to cruise! We had a great cruise.
