ARUBA 1:00pm till 10:00 pm

will be in Aruba from 1:00pm till 10:00pm. My initial idea is to get off ship at about 2:00 (after the 1:00pm Rush) and find a tour on the dock to take us (2 couples in their 70's) sightseeing till about 4:30 - 5:00. Go back to ship for 1st seating dinner.....then go back off ship to a nearby casino.

Can anyone suggest sights we would be able to see that would fit the 2:00 till 5:00ish timeframe? First time in Aruba, but 2 of us have limited mobility. Also, what casino would be the easiest to get to from ship. Does this plan sound feasible?

Really appreciate any help.

Sounds feasible to me...depending on what you want to see... This is a "docked" port...it won't take an entire hour for folks to get off the ship!!! If you hit the exit about 1:15, you'll walk right off.

There are casinos right across the street and to the right...about a block to walk...I don't know the name, tho. Remember, you'll have to be ON the ship at 9:30 pm...don't be late!

If you are just picking up a tour at the dock you will not be able to dictate what you want to see. You will be at the mercy of where the tour goes.

If you want a private taxi tour, you could see many highlights of the island in a 2 - 3 hour tour or all the highlights in a 4 hour tour. Private taxi tours are $40 per hour for up to a maximum of 5 people.

So a 3 hour tour for 4 people would total $120 divided by 4 people = $30 per person plus gratuity as you feel reasonable.

I would suggest contacting taxi driver "Bully" at bullytaxi79@hotmail.com. He has a large comfortable van. The email reply will be from Amador Lacle, if you believe you did not receive a reply, check your spam/junk folder.

There are two casinos within walking distance but if walking is difficulty getting off the ship and through the cruise terminal to the waiting taxis are probably going to be the best bet.

Thanks to all for the advice.

One more question....just to make sure I understand.... The $40.00 per hour tour taxi...would that be a taxi just for us four or is that a van that holds more than four? If it is just a 4 passenger vehicle could we just say to the driver "show us the highlights that you can in three hours " . Ok sorry that's more then one question...

$40 an hour is for a "private" tour and would only be the people in your party of four.

Bully is a native Aruban and knows the island like the back of his hand. If you email him for availability, you can ask what sights he suggests for however many hours you wish to tour. Let him know if you have any "must see" sight.

If $40 an hour is too much, there is another gentleman Sonny Binns who has a smaller 24 passenger tour bus. http://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1772709
