Skate board question

My son wants to take his skateboard when we go on the Freedom in a few weeks. Does anyone know if skateboards are allowed on the running track?

Not a chance. Well less chance than Michigan beating Ohio State this year.

A few years ago there was a family on my oasis cruise who had inline skates. I noticed the whole family had them. Later into the cruise I was able to speak with one of the sons. He said that his parents had to contact rccl in advance. Upon arrival they had to surrender the skates. The key was they were using them on an inline skating tour. The family didn't want to rent skates and felt safer using their own personal pairs. Long story short rccl allowed them to bring them. They had a rep waiting for them when they arrived who took the skates on board. The day of the tour the family picked them up before departure on the lower decks. When they came back from the tour they had to surrender them again. They picked them up again during departure. Obviously this isn't the norm but it would seem there are ways banned items can beep brought. Just wanting to bring a skate board though wouldn't be a reason unfortunately.

I actually LIKE the fact that an exception was made here. Clearly safety aboard was still taken into consideration but I think it's great that this family was accommodated for their excursion activity.

This is the same procedure that my daughter (and everyone else ;)) went through with her dive knife.

My two favorite football teams......Michigan and anyone who beats the snot out of Ohio State!

I guess you've had a bad few years..........:D:D It's been a good 5-6 years in East Lansing though. :)

My Dad was an OSU grad. He always said it was a shame when Michigan played Notre Dame because one of them had to win..... :)

Interesting that inline skates are banned, because on rccl.com, under the "Things to do":

Inline skating

Gear up and let the good times roll at the inline skating track, where a smooth course and padded barriers let you zip around the sports deck. Included in your fare, no reservation required.

I can understand they don't want guests skating around all over the ship, but it seems as if they'd let you bring your own for this activity.

I thought the same thing since this is an activity on some ships. I know that some guests do take their own gear for activities on-board (we take 2 Flowboards and a boogie board).

This will soon be a moot point anyway since the In-Line skating tracks are being taken off the Voyager class ships when they get retro-fitted with Flowriders.

Absolutely NOT allowed...no skateboards or roller-skates or those rolling tennis shoes....no wheels at all.

Roller skates, in-lines skates and rolling tennis shoes are not on RCCL's banned list. Read this link http://www.royalcaribbean.com/customersupport/faq/details.do?pagename=frequently_asked_questions&pnav=5&pnav=2&faqType=faq&faqSubjectId=333&faqSubjectName=Onboard+Policies&faqId=2608

Though not on the banned list the person would certainly be stopped by RCCL personal to seize using them on board as it poses a safety risk .

Additionally there is a venue specifically designed for roller-skating on the Quantum of the Seas. This link states that passengers can bring their own roller-skates ( not Blade skates AKA in-line skates ) http://www.royalcaribbean.com/customersupport/faq/details.do?pagename=frequently_asked_questions&pnav=5&pnav=2&faqType=faq&faqSubjectId=319&faqSubjectName=Ships+&faqId=5870

Some of the ships, believe Majesty is one, that does or did allow in-line skating on the sports deck at specific times during the cruise .
