What's the best Carnival comp from a single complaint you've gotten?

Wasn't Carnival but NCL. The first time the ship had a malfunction and nearly capsized and we each got a $500 credit toward a future cruise and another time after paying for pier transfers they didn't have our name and wouldn't allow us to board the bus. It was late and we hired a limo to the pier @$125 and they sent us the difference from what we paid to the additional cost. Carnival; nearly got trampled in Ft. Lauderale when the dock strike forced them to bus us to/from. Miami. Ther was no order and after standing in line for almost an hour the bus was rushed by the mob. We got 10% off a future cruise and a complimentary bottle of wine. We cruise a lot and these are exceptions to what we usually get.

Was on the Glory in March with the family. First night cabin steward skipped us (never saw nor met the person). Tried to call HS to no avail bc kids' bunks weren't down. GS had to call maintenance bc GS couldn't find Cabin Steward. Waited 45 minutes for maintenance to show. Cabin Steward for the other cabins witnessing our troubles helped us out instead. He learned our names, carried on many conversations with us and eventually told us how unhappy our cabin steward was.

So it wasn't onboard credit, % off our next cruise, or a bottle of wine. It was human kindness, who wasn't assigned to our cabin and didn't have to engage with us at all.

I sent a letter to CCL about it, rather about the Cabin Steward who went above and beyond for us.

Ours was actually with RCCL. We're cruising with then 9 mo old son..had booked a pack and play for him to sleep in 6 months prior. We get on the ship and sorry we ran out. Many more kids on the ship this week. We got zero sleep 1st night bc he was in bed with us. Next day goes by amd er heat nothing. Bedtime my hubby takes baby boy with him to guest services and asks for pack and play. See we were at their private island that day so we assumed they had some flown in from MIA. We'll they didnt. They tried to say too bad sorry but hubby insisted on speaking to supervisor. We ended up with a pack and play that night, pretty sure from nursery. Honestly we were happy with that bc that meant a good night sleep. Towards the end of the cruise we received a letter in our cabin apologizing and offering $1400 off our next cruise with them. Yeah we were pretty impressed. We were planning on CCL for the next but of course we had to put that offer to use. Have never had that problem on CCL though!!

We got stranded in st. Martins toward the end of a cruise because the ship's back up generator broke. Everyone got flown home free and got half off a future cruise. I figured they gave us about $2000 total compensation. They went above and beyond.

On the Glory, I had a steakhouse dinner for me and my wife comped after I didn't enjoy the entree. It was the lamb, and was just really tough and not good. I didn't actually complain. Our waitress noticed I hadn't eaten much of it and asked if I liked it, so I said not really. She offered to let me choose another entree and I got the surf and turf. I was perfectly happy with that. When we got our sail and sign bill at the end of the week, I saw that they had removed the charge for the steakhouse. I inquired and the steakhouse manager had done it. I wouldn't have asked for it to be free, since I felt they already went above and beyond by replacing my entree without being asked. But I have to say, I was absolutely blown away by how good they treated us.

Since 2002 I have given a Family & Friends Cruise every year. Every year I would book a handicapped cabin for my aunt, in 2013 some how my aunt's cabin was given to another passenger. My cousin (her cabin mate) and I went to Guest Services to complain we had all the paperwork showing the cabin number that she was assigned but all they kept saying was they were sorry and they had to try to contact the main office. To make a long story short Carnival gave her the complete cost of the cruise plus a little more as OBC and gave her cabin mate $500.00 . But my aunt was not a happy camper being in a regular balcony cabin, in fact she did not leave the cabin for the whole 8 day cruise.

The Serenity pool busted a pipe and flooded the bathroom in our aftwrap suite on Legend almost a year ago. We had two noisy blowers in there to dry the carpeting. The water almost got to my wedding dress in the closet. Didn't have to ask for compensation, they gave it: Almost $700 in obc plus a bottle of wine and a fruit basket. That money paid for most of our wedding/honeymoon in Fiji after the cruise.

Wow! You can get a wedding/honeymoon in Fiji for $700? That's incredible!!!

I had a cruise mate cancel before final payment, ( more equals merrier ) It took a week for me to talk a family member into joining us! In the interim Carnival changed my balcony cabin from mid ship deck 6 between elevators to the rear of deck 6 right across from elevators.... I called to ask why my Cabin was changed without a phone call to discuss.... This was the only time I was ever upset by Carnival, and from my point of view I paid the higher rate for them to choose the stateroom... I did not book that promotion, because I know that most veteran cruisers will stay away from high traffic and noisy areas... I expressed my displeasure at being forced to take a cabin, that had the same occupancy max as the one they took from me when the cruise mate canceled! I went ahead added the the family member to the booking expecting to be stuck with the room at the rear across from the elevators. She upgraded me to a category 8D cabin 9230 ( on the Splendor ) and gave the cabin $50 obc!

It paid for the beach wedding part and the honeymoon bure for one night, but not the lodging and all the diving. That was about another $3,000. Still a bargain!

I've received compensation 3x over the years. All were given without asking. First was when Splendor caught on fire and our cruise was cancelled. We were allowed to book the Dream at no additional cost and received 25% off a future cruise. Next was on the Dream we missed 3 out of 4 ports due to inclement weather and they gave everyone 20% off a future cruise. Third time there was a computer glitch that allowed us to book the Private Oasis at HMC when it was actually already booked months prior. We were comp'd two regular cabanas and received a wine and fruit basket in the cabin for the inconvenience.

I have complained three times in my cruises with Carnival. 1: On a shore excursion in Jamaica. It was horrible! The tour operators were very inappropriate (will not go into details on here). I wrote a letter to Carnival and they apologized and gave me another excursion equal to the amount that I paid for the other excursion. 2: On the Freedom in March, several issues, the bathroom in my cabin smelled horrible for the first two days and there was an issue with my Sail and Sign account. They sent some workers to clean the bathroom and resolved the Sail and Sign account issue. They gave us 2 drink coupons and a ship on a stick for the inconvenience. I was satisfied with the comp for both issues. 3: On the Freedom in May, the internet connection was very slow, we had the Premium package, Guest Services refunded 75% of the $99 price.

My wife and I were recently in the Elation July2015 and had an unexpected yet delightful expirience! First evening in the casino I hit for $2500.00 thinking cool good start! Next morning my wife and I were both well over the 1500 points required for free drinks in the casino but both having cheers card the perk was a moot point we said not a problem and kept playing. I hit for another $1000.00 the manager comes up and says Mr. Leasman we realize you have the cheers card so we would like to offer you and your wife a steak house selection dinner and a bottle of wine compliments of the casino!!! We said thank you very much that it was most kind and above there requirements as it was a $100.00 value. After dinner that evening we went back to our room to relax before the show, diner was amazing by the way wine we saved for a later date, and there were chocolate covered strawberries and a note from the casino manager for my wife saying he hoped we enjoyed dinner and our wine. The next evening I hit another $1000.00 pot in the casino and life was great! We placed all our winning on our S&S account covering all purchases on the cruise and basically paying for the cruise and hotel itself! When we re entered our room that night there was a letter from the hat trick casino saying as a valued guest of the casino please enjoy a free cruise on them (inside cabin) so the wife started dancing!!! So we are going to Jamaica in November for the cost of port fees it will be a nice getaway for us in between family cruises this next year!

I DO BELIEVE CARNIVAL TRIES TO MAKE A BAD SITUATION "RIGHT". I DON'T COMPLAIN ABOUT THINGS GENERALLY AM A "GO WITH THE FLOW"PERSON. however, ON OUR HAWAII CRUISE , WE HAD BOOKED A PRETTY EXPENSIVE EXCURSION THRU THE SHIP ON MAUI. IT WAS HORRIBLE! THE GUIDE WAS USELESS AND THE HIGHLITE OF OUR TOUR IN BEAUTIFUL MAUI WAS THE SCHOOL WHERE OUR GUIDE WENT TO HIGH SCHOOL. NEEDLESS TO SAY I WENT TO SHORE EXCURSIONS AND COMPLAINED. IT TOOK TWO DAYS BUT FINALLY A PERCENTAGE OF THE EXCUSION WAS REFUNDED. FOUND OUT LATER THAT MOST OF THE CRUISERS ON THAT EXCURSION COMPLAINED AND ALL GOT % REFUNDS. I FELT SATISFIED WITH WHAT THEY GAVE US AND WAS GLAD THEY TOOK OUR COMPLAINT SERIOUSLY. 10 CRUISES WITH CARNIVAL AND THAT WAS OUR ONLY COMPLAINT, EVER. WE HAVE BEEN LUCKY TO HAVE SO MANY ENJOYABLE CRUISES WITH NO ISSUES. HERE'S TO MANY MORE!!

I have never had a complaint. I called guest services once about a minor maintenance issue and it was promptly resolved. Nothing to complain about.

However I went to Guest Services one time to see if they could help me put some cash on another guest's account anonymously. Someone had done me a terrific favor. I knew the cabin number but not the name, and wanted to buy the young fellow a couple of drinks. They arranged it. Later that day I got the sweetest note along with a bottle of wine from the guest services employee.

That blew me away because it was so totally unexpected.

This is wrong on many levels. Instead of graduated comps based on winnings should be based on losses. That way everybody can come away from the casino with something besides a hole in their pocket.

By the way what was your game slots, black jack, poker?

Congrats.

We were in a connecting room once and the wooden doors seem to amplify everything....the neighbors had a couple of young kids who woke up daily at 6am.( we r late owls up til 4 or so since it is vacation) and they were jumping from their window sill to the bed screaming every morning!!! Heard everything in that room kids screaming, running, jumping on the bed, Nooooo Daddy, ahhhhhhh, u name it!! Everything except kids settle down we have neighbors. So by the 3rd day I had bags under my eyes bigger and blacker than the luggage we brought!!!! We went down to the desk to c if they could speak to them and wanted to be anonymous. Well they sent someone up and spoke to the family and I watched the the guy point to our room to tell them we were complaining! The rest of the trip we got dirty looks from the family and NO sleep! They didn't fix anything! Asked if we could switch rooms but ship was sold out.

We played the slots all and all we spent close to 2000 in the casino everything else was take home so we didn't really gain anything for winning. And also a pet of my first post didn't make it in the thread!!! Wierd!!!! When we asked about the free cruise at guest services it was a gift to a group of fellow cruisers including us who broke the 3000-3500 point threshold during the cruise. So in a since we gambled enough that the cruise to Jamaica was paid for on the July cruise lol

on the Spirit 10 day cruise we were woken up 6 nights at 4am from dragging chairs on the lido deck one floor up from us, we mentioned to our cabin steward he reported to his manager they checked everyday and we told them everyday we were once again woken up by them dragging chairs....still not sure why they just did not tell them to stop dragging them but they did not....final sea day when they asked again if we were woken up we said yes and I said to her what good does it do if you keep asking us if it happened if you don't respond to the complaint after 6 straight days of us telling you the same thing does not do any good....

They gave us a 25% refund as OBC plus a 25% off future cruise.... we walked off hoping all of our cruises had the same issues:D

WOW! This happened to us on our last cruise. Guess I should have mentioned it. Lol

Last cruise we had two cabins with my husband and our four kids. We booked FTTF for both cabins. The regular line had about 100people in it, we walked right up in the FTTF line. (San Juan). Anyway, somehow my card was missing from the envelope. The agent then had to escort us downstairs and directly onto the ship so they could print me a card, thus bypassing the 100 people in that line that were waiting to be allowed on. I was able to get my card printed immediately and we were free to go to our room.....fastest boarding ever and I definitely got my money for this one.
