Inukshuk Gal Posted August 30, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 30, 2015 This may be a silly question, but will RCI provide lap blankets for the balcony passengers and/or the public areas on their Alaska trips? I read about people who say to just dress warm, but a lap blanket on a cold night would be really nice to have. I assume they will, but with all of the RCI cost cutting conversations I thought I'd ask. I will be sailing on the Jewel in a few days. I have a small blanket I could toss into my luggage if necessary, but it seems a waste of space.
Rare WrittenOnYourHeart Posted August 30, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 30, 2015 I never saw any. But then it wasn't really cold on the 7/31 Radiance cruise, so there was no need for them.
Clarea Posted August 30, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 30, 2015 Never saw lap blankets on our Alaska cruise either.
Inukshuk Gal Posted August 30, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted August 30, 2015 Thanks. Not the answer I expected though, I just assumed they would be an option.
Cruisingthesuitelife Posted August 30, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 30, 2015 (edited) I was on the first Southbound this year and no, there were no blankets. I did wear a fleece type jumper and order room service hot chocolate (that definitely helped [emoji6] ) but it never seemed that cold. I guess I could have asked if they had any but it never crossed my mind. Edited August 30, 2015 by Cruisingthesuitelife
reallyhooked Posted August 30, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 30, 2015 You can ask for extra blanket in your room
Inukshuk Gal Posted August 30, 2015 Author #7 Share Posted August 30, 2015 You can ask for extra blanket in your room I think that will be my plan, I really don't want to pack a lap blanket - even a small lightweight one. Hopefully I won't ever need it. But I do love snuggling with my hubby under a blanket looking at stars whenever we camp in cold climates, it just seems more romantic. Would love to do the same as we gaze at the amazing views in Alaska. :-)
kabado Posted August 30, 2015 #8 Share Posted August 30, 2015 I hate those heavy comforters so I asked for a blanket and got it. Just off of Jewel on Friday.
Kevin's girl Posted August 30, 2015 #9 Share Posted August 30, 2015 They did on our Norwegian Cruise last May. It was very nice.
Ashland Posted August 30, 2015 #10 Share Posted August 30, 2015 If sitting in an outside public area you could always go into the Solarium and get a pool towel to use. Otherwise...yes...your cabin steward can provide one for you but on many of our cool climate RCI cruises we have usually already had a blanket left on the top shelf of our cabin closet. Rare NorbertsNiece Posted August 30, 2015 #11 Share Posted August 30, 2015 Didn't need a blanket in Alaska. Needed sunscreen and Deet.

foxgoodrich Posted August 30, 2015 #14 Share Posted August 30, 2015 We always just use a couple of pool towels - they work just fine. Judy
mrsccgt Posted August 30, 2015 #15 Share Posted August 30, 2015 No extra blanket in closet on our hump balcony cabin 2 weeks ago, so pressed my Delta "blanket" into service briefly as Radiance rotated. Luckily, fairly mild weather all week.
Snit13 Posted August 31, 2015 #16 Share Posted August 31, 2015 Hope none of you book the Antarctic cruise. Think we had 3 or 4 layers of clothing while on balcony on Celebrity Infinity. Did not find Alaska cruise cold while watching ice crashing to sea. A little wine or champagne helps too.
