Rare John&LaLa Posted October 7, 2015 #26 Share Posted October 7, 2015 This is our first cruise since they began the program of loading the 3 complimentary drinks per day, on to your seas pass card. Can you use them throughout the day, or only in the evening? I understand that this is in addition to the cocktail hours set up I the Viking Crown Lounge. Looking forward to enjoying this 'new' perk from RCCL. Thanks Thanks to everyone for their insight. We really enjoyed this perk on the Majesty--it worked well with the early dinner seating. We had a great server in the lounge, then found another one who kept up supplied with drinks after dinner in the Schooner bar while we enjoyed the piano player. We have always find that as long as we tip accordingly, we will be served all cruise, no matter the time of day. I prefer to spread out my drinking all day...it's difficult for me to drink that much between 5-8:30, so he "bent" the rules and kept them coming all night, without going over the 3 per evening complimentary limit. It's never been necessary to purchase a drink package, this deal is more than enough for us. Somewhat confused. You original post says you have not cruised with drinks loaded on card, and then you describe your gaming the system. Am I missing something? gam888 Posted October 8, 2015 #29 Share Posted October 8, 2015 Excuse my ignorance, but what is this 3 free drinks? We are booked on the Rhapsody of the Seas in November on an inside cabin, we are Crown & Anchor members. In the past 3 cruises we sailed with Royal, I don't remember having seen any vouchers in any booklet that gives you 3 free drinks. Could someone please explain to me where you get this and when and where you can use it? Thanks!

The vouchers are not physical coupons, they are loaded onto the onboard account. They can be used at any bar, during the normal 5pm to 8:30pm Diamond Lounge cocktail period. mark290 Posted October 8, 2015 #31 Share Posted October 8, 2015 that's basically one per hour., one before dinner, bring one to dinner and then one after dinner. I would be furious if I found out a bartender was serving free voucher drinks outside of the posted restrictions. that's not fair to everyone else who would also like to do their drinking during the day without having pay for it. Furious?
Sassy19305 Posted October 8, 2015 #32 Share Posted October 8, 2015 if Junior was merely in a suite and not D or D+... well I have yet to sail on a ship with the new Suite lounge so cannot even hazard a guess. Keep in mind that Suite guests do not get the drink vouchers unless they are D or above. Junior would be able to get a beverage in the CR during cocktail hours. Guest maddycat Posted October 8, 2015 #33 Share Posted October 8, 2015 We were on the Independence in August and we did not get any vouchers and I did not know we could get 3 free drinks a night. About the 3rd night I decided to get a drink before dinner and when the bartender took my card' date=' she gave it back to me and said since I was Diamond I get 3 free a night. Never took my card for the rest of the cruise. It was between 4 or 5 and 8 pm only[/quote'] You should have gotten a paper in your cabin on embarkation day listing all of the benefits for Diamond C&A members. sugcarol Posted October 8, 2015 #34 Share Posted October 8, 2015 That liquor menu doesn't really help me to figure out what kind of drink can be put together. last RCCL sailing I could order Cosmopolitan and Margarita on the rocks, other than that no other frufru drinks. The sailing before that, we could get Mojitos and Pina Coladas, but they stopped that.

This will be our first cruise out of Tampa since we moved to CB. I think it's a little bit closer than Ft Lauderdale. The sailing before that, we could get Mojitos and Pina Coladas, but they stopped that. Sometimes it just depends on the bar and bartender. This past cruise on Indy I tried to get a Cosmo at Bolero's. No dice. I walked through the casino to the Schooner bar and got just what I wanted. I tipped the bartender and told him that he would be taking care of my diamond drinks for the rest of the week. He seemed quite pleased. He was probably even happier when I tipped him again at the end of the week. Bolero's loss was Schooner's gain. Oh, and after I got that first Cosmo I walked back through Bolero's, raised my glass to the bartender and gave him a nice nod and smile. I agree with you that the list is not very helpful in figuring out what type of drinks you can order unless you are well versed in what goes into a drink. Look at what they provided on Grandeur with regard to DL drinks: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=47963885&postcount=12 I wish all the ships would do this. Yes - I would also like that on all ships. That would certainly end lots of conversation and would protect bar tenders who have to decide if they break a rule ( and compromise their job) in order not to make a passenger angry. Bravo RCCL - or at least the Grandeur folks. Thanks M Edited October 9, 2015 by cruisegirl1

Bob, this is terrific; however it's obvious that they are not doing this on all ships. I had the same issue on Freedom as a PP had on Indy. When I asked for a cosmo or a margarita on the rocks at certain bars they started telling me that it wasn't allowed on the 3 D coupons, yet I had it every other night in the DL. But I had it happen at 2 different bars and just gave up trying to find one that would do it for me (and it was certainly not breaking the rules when the DL concierge specifically told me that it was allowed and he didn't know why they were denying it). We're sailing Anthem over Christmas. Hope I don't run into these problems again. We've sailed with Bertie before so he recognizes us from previous trips, but I don't know the D concierge on Anthem. cruisegirl1 Posted October 9, 2015 #49 Share Posted October 9, 2015 Consistency is hard to find on any ship, let alone thought out the company. We generally use a voucher each night rather than the lounge and if one bar tender refuses a simple request like a bloody mary or martini, we say thank you and go to another bar. Once we find the bar tender that will make the "authorized drink" we simply go to that bar every night. Not that it matters, and the bar tender has no idea of our intentions when we order, but we tip for every drink, generally a dollar or two per drink. ( in a bar or in the lounge) What is funny is that some of the drinks that have been refused in the past ( both at bars or even in the lounge) are listed on that Grandeur card. M I tried the issue on 2 different nights in 2 different bars. Same issue both times. If it were just me, I'd leave and scope out another bar to find someone who was willing to do what I was told was allowed. But I'm with mom, and she's just not up to walking around the ship from bar to bar to find someone to make me a drink. She can get her club soda anywhere (LOL). I think in December I'll hit the DL, find out what the situation is on the ship, then check out the bars and find the one that works for me. I, too, tip on each drink, whether I pay for it or not.
