11:40am flight Getaway MIA

I'm looking at booking flights, should we be ok with a 11:40am flight? We do plan to get early tags so we can be off asap.

I would say nine times out of ten you would be fine, but you never know how long getting through customs will take for the ship before they start letting passengers off. I guess I wouldn't risk it, but I like to leave plenty of time for transportation.

Best bet is to do the easy walk off. Be there first in line....we were off in 15 minutes total but were the top 5 people in line.

Print up your boarding passes, or check-in for your flight the day before.

 

You should be fine - Just take a taxi to the airport NOT A VAN

 

All of our NCL dis embarkations have been very smooth - If you are staying in the Haven, your concierge will bypass all lines & public elevators (except customs).

 

Yep - there a lot of "ifs" but we have made 10:30 flights at MIA before. :D

You shouldn't have any trouble if you can walk off early. The cab ride is about 20 mins. to MIA Intl. ;)

Earlier this year on the Epic we were trying to be among the last off the ship because our shuttle service was picking us up at 11:30 to go to FLL. We were still off the ship by 10 ish with a lot of time to kill outside & no place to sit.

 

That said, when booking a flight, do not look at what time it takes off. Look at what time you have to be at the AP for 11:40, you should probably be there by 10 which gives you the requisite 1.5 hours before boarding. Assuming 1/2 hour for traffic if you are confident that you can be off the ship by 9:30, book that flight.

I have a 10:55 flight booked for my return after sailing the Getaway in October. I am not worried. I am usually one of the very first folks off the ship. If customs is an issue, then it can be a problem. But I will also be one of the first folks in line for that too.

Go for it!! We sailed on the Getaway in July and made it to the airport by 10:15. And our mode of transportation was was the bus booked through Norwegian :) I tried to get us on an earlier flight out of MIA once we were there, but they were booked.

You can be one of the last off of the ship and make that flight without any issue.

Depends also on when this flight is. Thanksgiving or Christmas time? I wouldn't risk it. Any other time? Probably fine.

Thanks all, when the price is right I'll book the 11:40 flight. It's not a holiday but we still can't do walk off too many bags I will print boarding passes the day before.

I actually have the same question. The schedule shows that the ship gets back to Miami at 8am. Is this accurate, and if so at what time does the debarkation process generally begin for the early walk-offs?

All NCL ships that I have been on that dock at Miami get into port between 5:30-6 am. :)
