Casino question?

So, I'll be taking my first cruise with Royal in a week and a half. I have cruised before, on Carnival. When I go to the casino on Arnival I just use my Sail and Sign card to load money into the machine and I cash out to the card, creating a "players bank". Does it work the same way on RCI or should I bring money for the machines? I heard they have a service charge for using your card in that way in the casinos....is that true? Can someone tell me about how it all works? Thanks so much, just want to be prepared!

In my experience, the machines (and tables) take cash. I have never seen one be able to load the sea pass card.

If you want cash from the casino cashier, that can be charged to the sea pass card, there will be a 5% fee. The fee may be waived if you are a significant player and part of the RCCL player club.

You can put the sea pass card in the machines to keep track of "points" per play, that are traded in for a variety of rewards. Some are small, think key ring, shirts, hats but with enough play you can get small amount of $$ back.

GOOD LUCK

M

Any money withdrawn in the Casino against your SeaPass Account will result in a 5% Service Charge. If, when checking in, you set up a Cash Account instead of giving a credit card, you will not be charged the 5% Service Charge in the Casino.

From the RCI website regarding Cash Accounts:

We require guests to place a deposit if they are paying for their SeaPass account with cash. There is a $500 daily limit on cash accounts for 7+ night sailings and $300 for 2/3/4/5 night sailings. Once the daily cash limit is reached, we will call the guest and inform the guest that the limit has been reached. s.gif

So do the machines pay out cash or do you get tickets or something and have to cash out all the time?

Tickets. On our recent cruise ticket machines were not available so one had to wait in line at the cashier cage to cash a ticket.

You can hold on to the ticket to use in another machine even on another day, but we generally cash out tickets ( if we are that lucky :)) at the end of each night.

Slot Machines now print out a ticket which you can use on another machine or cash it in.

..........and some ships have a machine for cashing out those tickets so that you don't have to stand in line at the Cashier's window.

And some of those machines sometimes work. ;)
