sheppyhill Posted September 20, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 20, 2015 My husband & I are going to be in Marseille in October. Can you find Private Drivers right off the ship? Or do you need to book in advance? We want a full day tour, I have been quoted 500 Euro's, is that reasonable?
CruiserBruce Posted September 20, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 20, 2015 In Europe, there aren't typically tour venders on the dock when you walk off the ship. So I wouldn't plan on this option.
CGinMTL Posted September 20, 2015 #3 Share Posted September 20, 2015 hello, i was in marseille in 2013. this is a port that you just can't walk p the ship and visit. you need to take a shuttle into town . If i remember, it was 10 eur / pers and there was not much there. . I really recommend you book a tour. we booked with this company Catherine D'ANTUONO, Certified Lecturer Guide SARL TOUR DESIGNER in PROVENCE Provence Travel Specialist tour.designer@provence-travel.com www.provence-travel.com www.shore-excursions-marseille.com . we did not have any idea what we would do. I found 6 other people on the roll call. and it turned out to be "eat your way through provence" tour. . Provence is beautiful.
Rare Hlitner Posted September 20, 2015 #4 Share Posted September 20, 2015 It is very unlikely that you would find any proper tour operators waiting for customers in the port. However, there will be some taxis and you could certainly hire a taxi for part or all of the day (this would cost hundreds of Euros). But consider that most taxi drivers do not speak English and they are not tour guides. In Europe, if you want to arrange private tours, the norm is to make the arrangements (usually done online) prior to your cruise. Hank
Rare Keith1010 Posted September 21, 2015 #5 Share Posted September 21, 2015 As mentioned, we didn't find anyone who would give tours at the pier. This is one that you need to plan ahead of time. Keith
Taay Chi Posted March 1, 2016 #6 Share Posted March 1, 2016 You definitely cannot find venders at the docks so planning in advance is highly recommended as the best guides are often booked far in advance, contact Nancy who can provide you with tour options. Cost is based on the number of people in the van that can accomodate up to 8 passengers.
