maeormaenot Posted September 25, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 25, 2015 From my experiences, The weather in Cozumel, Jamaica, Grand Cayman is great, the water does have a chill to it but its a quick shock and you are good to go. What port are you looking at... The gulf gets a bit rough in Feb, especially heading back to Galveston.
ready2cruzagain Posted September 25, 2015 #3 Share Posted September 25, 2015 The weather in the Caribbean is great but depends on what port you are sailing from as to whether your first and last sea day will be chilly.
waywyrd Posted September 25, 2015 #4 Share Posted September 25, 2015 We've gone to Freeport/Nassau in February a few years ago and while it wasn't cold, it did get a bit chilly when the sun went behind the clouds. Went eastern Caribbean this past February and it was quite warm, but the Atlantic was pretty rough. We missed San Juan because of the wind (though this could happen any time of year). Cruisin 4 Ever Posted September 25, 2015 #6 Share Posted September 25, 2015 It really depends on what ports you are referring to. Anything in the Bahamas - Freeport, Half Moon Cay, Nassau will likely be cool and the water is not that warm to swim in. Further south is usually pretty warm and the water is warm for swimming. love my grandkids Posted September 25, 2015 #7 Share Posted September 25, 2015 It really depends on what ports you are referring to.Anything in the Bahamas - Freeport, Half Moon Cay, Nassau will likely be cool and the water is not that warm to swim in. Further south is usually pretty warm and the water is warm for swimming. We have been fortunate, have gone to GT and HMC numerous times in Jan-Feb and had nice swimming weather. However further south you go the better odds on warmer weather
DebNJim Posted September 25, 2015 #8 Share Posted September 25, 2015 In general how nice or not is the weather in the Caribbean in early Feb. temperature wise? February is our favorite time to cruise. We do the southern Caribbean out of Puerto Rico and the temp is perfect on shore and in the water. We were also in GT this past February and the water temp was very nice.
snc_cam Posted September 25, 2015 #9 Share Posted September 25, 2015 we've done both eastern and western carib cruises in late Jan and early Feb many times. And each time we have snorkeled at various ports. So, weather tends to be in 80s and sunny most days but you can find some cool ones too.

DebNJim Posted September 25, 2015 #12 Share Posted September 25, 2015 When you all refer to going further south for warmer temps, what ports are u referring to? For us it has been St Kitts, St Thomas, Barbados, Grenada, St Lucia, Aruba, Curacao, the Dominican, Puerto Rico, Grand Turk, and St Martin. I think once you get to Puerto Rico and below you are good to go with the temps (at least on the eastern side).
Towel Critter Posted September 25, 2015 #13 Share Posted September 25, 2015 These are averages and can vary somewhat depending on current weather. For example, one of the times I was in Nassau a huge cold front had come through and it felt like it might have been in the fifties. It was cloudy, damp, and windy, so it may have been in the low sixties and just felt chillier. In general though, you will be more likely to have warm to hot temps further South than Nassau in February. navybankerteacher Posted September 25, 2015 #14 Share Posted September 25, 2015 Since OP asked about the Caribbean in February, conditions in the Bahamas are irrelevant. The Caribbean Sea is south of Cuba , Haiti-Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, and generally west of the lesser Antilles - say the Virgin Islands down past Barbados. That said, the conditions are surely better than what we have in Connecticut. The sea water temperature is reliably very close to, if not slightly above 80 F, the seas are generally calm, the weather is less rainy, hot or humid than much of the rest of the year. Of course, getting there involves passing through other areas, so the very beginning and end of a Caribbean cruise, whether it starts in Texas, New Orleans, anywhere in Florida, or along the East Coast is not going to feel like the Caribbean. In short: February, with January, is the best time of the year in the Caribbean.
OCruisers Posted September 25, 2015 #15 Share Posted September 25, 2015 Once out of the Bahamas and into the Caribbean, the weather in February is "toasty warm". :D LuLu

Krazy Kruizers Posted September 25, 2015 #17 Share Posted September 25, 2015 We have done quite a cruises in February. Some times we have had warm weather and calm seas. Other times even though it was warm, the seas were rough. Weather is unpredictable.
1midsun Posted September 25, 2015 #18 Share Posted September 25, 2015 We prefer to cruise in February. Coming from Calgary, Alberta. Temperatures in February are around -25 C (-13F) So when it is +25C (77F) in Florida and points south, we are quite happy to be swimming!!!!
