Can you explain the hot tub area needing keypad access? Is this like the Enclave or something similar that is a pay area?

Thanks, on the Regal Oct 24.

Have no idea at all which is why i took the pic. Hoping some other seasoned Princess cruisers would be able to identify.

Good morning!

We've missed another port due to the bad weather the Northeast has been experiencing. Newport is now history. Everyone seems resolved at this point; one peek at the sea and you can see she is angry! They are beefing up the onboard activities in anticipation of another unplanned sea day.

I was hoping to be able to share large photos of our dinner at Crown Grill last night, but uploading via ship internet is tedious. So try and make do with the thumbnails for now.

I was on that cruise and thoroghly enjoyed our visit to St. John's. The welcome was first class with the music playing, the Newfoundland and the chocolate Labrador greeting us as well as the women who came on board to the Piazza who distributed maps and provided excellent information to make our day the best. Someone on our roll call told us about Rocket Bakery and Cafe and that since we would be there on a Tuesday to go and enjoy the local musicians who stop by to play traditional music. We did just that and had the best time! The send off was incredible with the ships in the harbor playing a 'symphony' with their horns for 13 minutes! And then the sailaway seeing all of the waving people lining the roads and Signal Hill where a musket salute was heard as we sailed out of the harbor. Definitely a memorable day and we thank the Newfoundland people for a warm and wonderful welcome.

We, too, were on the TA that visited St. John's and absolutely loved that port! From the fantastic welcome in the morning to the people lining the hills as we sailed away, it was wonderful. We felt very welcome every where we went, as though you were as happy to have us as we were to be there. We rented a car and drove to Cape Spear, Petty Harbor, Signal Hill and Quidi Vidi. Petty Harbor was a spur of the moment decision (my husband turned down the road, following the sign on a whim) but are we ever glad we did! What a lovely and interesting little town, and the people were so friendly! You really live in a beautiful part of the world, and I am very glad that I got to see it even if just for a day. You should be very proud of your "homies"!

We are in aft balcony cabin D731, so we will take some extra pics for you and post them tomorrow when we get to port

Today we had a fantastic meet n mingle in Club 6. Almost Every officer attended, please we had a sample show from the magician! Awesome! Right afterwards we enjoyed s cabin crawl. Most of all though meeting everyone was the best! We had a great turn out!

Hi Laura...thanks for the posting..my friends leave tomorrow for this cruise...question: does Princess arrange M & M 's like RCI does with you guys, OR do you have to contact Princess yourself & arrange one? We are going on the Crown Princess to Alaska May 21, 2016 and would like to arrange maybe a M & M, although tough to do on Alaskan cruises with only one day at sea ( first)...say hi to Jennifer ( know her well..)

We did a private tour that visited all those places on one of our stops at St. John's and thoroughly enjoyed it all. Petty Harbor could be more aptly named "Pretty Harbor," but I'm sure it was named for someone important by the name of Petty. Our tour allowed us time to walk around PH for about an hour so really got to enjoy all of it.

today there are 11 foot swells. We are rockin and rollin'. Last night too

It is a shame that this cruise turned out so bad, missing two ports and having rough seas. I am taking the same cruise on Oct. 17 and hope the weather will be good, especially the seas.Don't do too well in rough seas.

Laura, was the seas pretty bad the whole cruise?Who is the cruise director on the ship? Was he pretty good? How was the entertainment?

Too bad they couldn't substitute New London for Newport, when tendering is not possible....I was on a cruise that called at that port that rarely see's a cruise ship, and the folks there treated us 'royally'....:)

So sorry this itinerary got altered by the bad weather. It's nasty up here in New England right now. We were supposed to be on this trip but had to cancel for my husband's medical issues. I'd have been so disappointed to miss Bar Harbor. We lived there many years and I've always wanted to sail up Frenchman Bay on a big ship...not to mention I had lunch plans with a dear old friend. And for all the years I've been around New England I never got to Newport...another reason why I booked this particular trip. I'm so sorry for all the pax who were anticipating these lovely ports.

Cheers, Penny
