Aussie One Posted October 2, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 2, 2015 The room service on legend was disgusting no dinner menu only a hamburger. There was no welcome drinks no port lectures cut back bingo if attendance small entertainment was a joke service around pool areas was also non existent The tier event was over after one drink the cruise director never attend this. Maybe he only gets paid apart time wage as I never saw him the whole cruise. There where so many complaints the queises at guest services was so long await Cutbacks in the MDM where very obvious the shops had very little stock and hardly any duty free liquor a bottle of scotch the cheapest $210 The crew where the only saviour for this ship is this the way RCI want to save monies this was my fith cruise with RCI never again unless you guys prove me wrong Aussie
tomatosauce Posted October 2, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 2, 2015 The current Legend voyages are a bit of a holding pattern whilst it moves from the US to Australia (specifically Brisbane) and Asia so you are seeing unusual itineraries which can mean that the logistics don't work as well. There have not been free welcome drinks..............ever? More than a dozen years? Port lectures are rare and far between. Do you mean "queues", or "lines" at guest services? Sorry that you had to wait. What is "MDM"?
Diplomacy Posted October 2, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 2, 2015 You haven't been able to order full dinners via room service unless you are in a full suite in EONS. Agreed. The room service menu has sucked as long as i've been cruising~5 years. There have not been free welcome drinks..............ever? More than a dozen years? Unless you are diamond. Merion_Mom Posted October 2, 2015 #5 Share Posted October 2, 2015 Agreed. The room service menu has sucked as long as i've been cruising~5 years. Unless you are diamond. Those are NOT "welcome aboard" drinks. Those are "happy hour" drinks. Big difference.
Merion_Mom Posted October 2, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 2, 2015 By the way, Aussie One, if you cruised the last week in August, your CD was Keith Williams. He IS a bit..............bland ;), but a REALLY nice guy, and is usually very good at his job.
Coralc Posted October 2, 2015 #7 Share Posted October 2, 2015 There have not been free welcome drinks..............ever? More than a dozen years? There was a waiter with a tray of drinks as we boarded the Viking Serenade in 1992. I thought, "How wonderful!" And then he asked for my Seapass card and I returned the drink to his tray. Not free. :)
Zou Bisou Bisou Posted October 2, 2015 #8 Share Posted October 2, 2015 We were handed Champagne by waiters with trays while checking in on the Voyager out of Galveston back in December, 2008. It was a News Years cruise and we were in priority check-in (Diamond at the time) so I don't know if all passengers were offered such. We also had the same treatment on Voyager out of NOLA in December, 2011. It was a cruise that ended Christmas Eve. So it may have been for the holidays, I don't know. It was nice. The_Big_M Posted October 2, 2015 #9 Share Posted October 2, 2015 The above aren't relevant cutbacks as they haven't existed for years, decades if at all. While you may prefer a different standard of service, that isn't a reflection on Royal Caribbean nor that it's cutting back but just your preferences. What rubbish. I was on LOS last week from Singapore to Fremantle and enjoyed the cruise immensely. The ship is in wonderful condition despite her age and the CD was out and about all the time just like all of them, pool parties, 60s and 79s nights, welcome back events etc.etc. The shops were well stocked and duty free spirits generally cheap. Eg Kahlua was 2/$67 There were plenty of lectures and some very interesting ones about the Pilbara and Kimberley region. The only cut back i saw was Bingo has been reduced from 4 games to 3 fleet wide. Room service was adequate (and i did spend 24 hrs in isolation) with normal breakfast menus etc or full service fir suite guests. I did have an issue though with MTD organisation and food quality being bellow standard but elswhere on ship was great. Hugh

It's very difficult to understand where one sentence ends and another begins, so it's hard to understand what you are saying.
Pencruise Posted October 3, 2015 #13 Share Posted October 3, 2015 We have just spent 29 days on the Legend and had the most wonderful time. The ship is in really good shape and the service was second to none. Keith the Cruise Director was always out and about and we thought he was excellent, he was even present at the gangway at every port of call and some of them were difficult tendering operations in rough seas - we thought he was great. Would not hesitate for one moment on sailing on the Legend again.

I thought that you were referring to the last cruise (in September) didnt click that your heading referred to an August cruise. Rest assurred everything is now normal with all the usual activities and staff being visible at all times. Spoke at length with the CD Keith Williams and he did tell me that during the Asian cruises they do reduce bar staff by almost half when the ship is heavily charted with predominantly Casino orientated passenegers who dont drink and partake in normal ship activities. Legend alao had a few short asian cruises out of Singapore that had normal service. She is now on her way back to Singapore then after a couple of charters will take up normal cruises again starting with the repo from Singapore to Brisbane. I would not hesitate to sail on this ship again. Hugh

That would explain the room service issue. The limited room service has been in place for JS and lower ever since we started back in 2001, as far as I remember. As for the rest- it appears that your schedule does not match the sports staff schedule very well. We just sailed on the Rhapsody, and could hear the rock climb bell ring all the time while hanging out on our balcony.
Aussie One Posted October 5, 2015 Author #19 Share Posted October 5, 2015 We where In a balcony with radiance and rhapsody both very good service.mayby the cutbacks are cruises from Asia. As I said no wall climbing or putting the cruies director confirmed this with Hugh. Also we waited In a line for three hours waiting to embark in Hong Kong Aussie
