Sometimes...

Sometimes reading these boards are super helpful and other times I feel slightly jealous (but I am still happy for everyone else). Lol! Does anyone feel this way ever?

I only cruise Carnival and I am in the casino a lot. So my first thing was despite the amount of time and money I spend in the casino I have never been offered one of the cool casino offers or anything. Ugh a bit bitter but in the end it helped a lot because I gained a lot of good advice from the forums to ensure my game play is accurately reported.

I am also reading how people have gotten calls with offers of upgrades at discounted prices. I am like, "how cool!!" And I get excited for everyone who has said it. But then I think "hmm how come I have never gotten an offer like that?"

Those are two examples. I really am not mad or anything. And I truly am happy for everyone who gets the amazing deals. I am just looking forward to the day I get a piece of that awesomeness! hehehee :D

LOL, welcome to the club, we have sailed Carnival 30 times and have never gotten a call. In terms of Casino, it is a double edged sword. On a recent family cruise, two of my kids (adults) got a letter the last morning for a "free" cruise. My response was there is nothing "free" about it, they already earned it with what they spent in the casino......

Clambert, I plan on making the pit boss my bestie the entire cruise. HAHA! ;)

Thanks for the replies. I am glad no one took offense to my post because I definitely meant it in a playful way. :)

Just curious, do you cruise a lot? I cruised for the first time 5/2014 and I have the casino offer on my account which will expire on 10/15. I'm planning on booking for this December, but am waiting for the AARP GCs I ordered. Not sure what I can do if they don't come in on time.

I didn't necessarily play that much $$$ (maybe $100 worth of blackjack + $20 slots). I'm wondering if it's more of a retainer offer they gave to me since I haven't cruised in over a year?

I have been on 4 cruises.

02/2008 on Imagination

01/2009 on Splendor

03/2010 on Glory

09/2015 on Elation

and I have already booked 3 more. LOL I know my cruising history is small compared to others. In the casino, I only play roulette and craps. This last cruise I predominantly played roulette. I am not into slots but I keep reading that slots is more accurate because it is machine recording play. But the money... whew. This is why I limit my casino play to cruises. I can easily see how people get addicted. Goodness knows I have spent too much too easily. ;X lol

My next 3 cruises are for

11/2015 on Conquest

02/2016 on Elation

10/2016 on Ecstasy

I am hoping to book one more cruise for 2016 before I start planning 2017. :)

Took my first Carnival cruise 21 years ago. I have never been approached with any special offer besides an upgrade fairy call. But I'm probably not Carnival's target when they give away free cruises. My mentality when I choose to sail on Carnival from the moment I book the cruise is cheap, cheap, cheap. I book the most economical cabin that I'll be happy with, and my onboard expenses are limited to a fridge magnet and a t-shirt which would give Carnival zero incentive to give me a free cruise if I will be spending that kind of money onboard.

But I'm OK with that because it seems that, most people who do get the free cruise call have already spent considerably more on Carnival than what the cost of the free cruise is.

I was just doing some digging and did see that people who play some slots get noticed a bit more too. Maybe play $20 worth of slots on your next cruise.

I also make sure to provide my cruise card when sitting at a table so the pit boss notes my account that I'm playing (just like you would for any casino card at a Vegas casino). This is the only way they track that you're playing.

I agree that it may have something to do with the amount of $$$ spent. I got a call for an upsell a few years ago. I had booked a Grand Suite on the Ecstasy, with an extended balcony, and indicated that it was our anniversary when I booked the cruise.

Since it was a special occasion, I said yes when I got the call for an upsell. :D

I wish I had a picture of the look on my wife's face when the Carnival rep escorted us to our suite and opened the door on embarkation day! Priceless!

My wife took tons of pictures for her website (see below). It was a memorable cruise!

I started cruising in 2003 and it's only the last 2 years or so that I've started to receive "casino" offers of free or discounted fares.

I will admit that I had blocked "spam" email from Carnival and rarely looked at my VIP, now VIFP offers. Instead I would notify the casino when I was sailing again and they would send stuff to my cabin. Today, I prefer the lower fare cruises.
