Ryno9065 Posted October 7, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 7, 2015 Leaving on the Conquest on May 14th. I have always sailed in September or October and the weather and water temps have been great. What's it like in May? We are doing the Eastern Caribbean.
waywyrd Posted October 7, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 7, 2015 May is my favorite time to cruise. The weather is usually settled and the water is nice and warm.
wantocruisemore Posted October 7, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 7, 2015 Water is nice and warm. Not too hot but depending on exact location you could have some rain. May is one of my favorite times because normally less crowded and less humid.

ObstructedView2 Posted October 7, 2015 #5 Share Posted October 7, 2015 (edited) The weather temps in May are typically between 76° to 86°. We love sailing mid May, it's perfect! It's just after spring break & just before the crowds of children get out of school in June. You will certainly enjoy cruising in May. :) Edited October 7, 2015 by ObstructedView2
brepri_h Posted October 7, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 7, 2015 We always cruise in April/May. One time we came back on June 2nd. The weather has always been great. Hot, but great. Heck if I am going to the Caribbean I want to be hot! It's a nice time to go because it's just after their high season so it's quieter. I'm going cruising this coming February and I'm nervous about the time of year.
mrsfuzzmo Posted October 7, 2015 #7 Share Posted October 7, 2015 May is PERFECT!! Humidity hasn't set in for the summer yet, there's very little rain and the water temps are awesome! One of the nicest things is that it stays light out much longer, so your days are nice and long. We almost always travel to the Caribbean in May. It's our favorite month to go!! loveto2step Posted October 7, 2015 #8 Share Posted October 7, 2015 We're leaving April 10th on the Magic. We live in Houston and have a pool in the back yard and it's still a wee bit cold for me in April, so I'm hopping my cold nature doesn't get to me! Oh my gosh why can't time fly and hurry up!! dmdiver Posted October 7, 2015 #9 Share Posted October 7, 2015 Perfect - water has warmed up, air temp is plenty warm, but not oppressively hot. Remember, I'm from Texas where May is 90's and summer is 100's. Yankees may disagree with my definition of what oppressively hot is. ;-)
cb at sea Posted October 7, 2015 #10 Share Posted October 7, 2015 April and May are my favorite times. The actual Caribbean is hot/warm all year round. The Bahamas and Bermuda are NOT in the Caribbean, and have weather most like Florida. Quite warm in May!
CCLCruiser4321 Posted October 7, 2015 #11 Share Posted October 7, 2015 It will be hot like the rest of the year
TheShayQueen Posted October 7, 2015 #12 Share Posted October 7, 2015 I can't speak on the water temps, but the weather was definitely HOT in May with no humidity. It was great!!!
Miller_KC Posted October 7, 2015 #13 Share Posted October 7, 2015 We did the Bahamas in May. The water temps were perfect for us, warm but not like bath water. Every day was sunny and warm in the mid 80s to mid 90s. It seemed unusual to us not to see some rain on a cruise, but we have never had a day where we couldn't do what we wanted because of rain. ukdeblarz Posted October 8, 2015 #14 Share Posted October 8, 2015 I cruised to the Caribbean the past two years in May. Perfect weather each time. Both Western and Southern routes. Maybe one shower all week. Calm waters. Longer days with sunrise and sunsets. There's always a very, very slight chance of an early tropical storm, but I've never experienced it. Rare Keith1010 Posted October 8, 2015 #15 Share Posted October 8, 2015 May should be warm and a nice time to visit the Caribbean. Keith
cruzinlisa Posted October 8, 2015 #16 Share Posted October 8, 2015 I agree with the others, the weather is perfect. I have cruised three times departing between April 21 and May 9 and had amazing weather every time. Not too hot, not cold, not too much rain. Just all around great. And May 14 is a great day to cruise because that is my Birthday!
OCruisers Posted October 8, 2015 #17 Share Posted October 8, 2015 It's a great time to be there! Actually, a better choice than September. :)
