shrekaus Posted October 14, 2015 #54 Share Posted October 14, 2015 Sad, and quite shocking in a way seeing how people take such things so seriously, to the point of nastiness. I can relate to that, going on cruise on Solstice in November, have almost reached the point of dreading it after reading through the "Celebrity Dress Code Discussion" We really enjoyed our cruise on Sea Princess, they had dress code which we adhered to, but seems Celebrity expects much higher, everywhere after 6pm. Even a couple of regulars on this forum had a snipe, well it is paid for so we are going.

You will love it, and while I haven't been on either of those ships, sail Princess mostly but have been on Celebrity and in all honesty they are more the same than different, even in Dress Code. In spite of what some people say I understand that it can effect the ambiance for those who expect it 3. My host ask me to

Agreed, do not fear about the dress codes. Very few on either of the cruise lines strictly adhere to formal but they will dress up for the occasion. You will find that for those that don't will not affect your meal or experience in any case.:D

DH has been traveling without a suit or sportscoat for our last several Celebrity cruises. If we eat in the main dining room on formal night, he speaks to the maitre'd who gives him a jacket from a closet right behind the dining room entrance. Some have been humungous and others like a girdle:D. Wish you were with us on the January 19 Solstice cruise! The Forum on Cruise Critic that really scares me is Cruise Air:eek:! Unbelievable! :D I'm packing exactly the same clothes for our upcoming Solstice cruise as I did on our two Princess and one RCI cruises. I am expecting to see no differences in what others wear compared with Princess, and a tad dressier than RCI. We do enjoy formal nights and the chance to dress up to the nines. I really don't care what other people wear as long as they are clean and tidy but must admit people who walk through the main interior public areas in the evenings in shorts, tshorts and thongs do look out of place. Shrekaus, if you were comfortable with what you wore on Sea Princess you will be fine on Solstice. :) Edited October 14, 2015 by OzKiwiJJ
Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted October 14, 2015 #61 Share Posted October 14, 2015 Yikes! Just as well I read some of that thread. I was expecting two formal nights on the 12 night cruise but there are three!

We were on Solstice last month. As we were travelling for 8 weeks pre-cruise my husband did not pack a coat. On formal night he spoke to the maitre'd who said not to bother with a jacket and go straight in. There were other people we spoke to who were told the same. I pack a tux for cruises but I also wear a sports coat when travelling. It helps with possible airline up grades and dinners out when not cruising as well.
