ChosenOne Posted November 18, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 18, 2015 Anyone who has been on a recent Journeys cruise...can you clue me in as to what special 80's activities/games/etc they held on that day?
crzndeb Posted November 18, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 18, 2015 I just got off a B2B, both Journeys cruises on Sat. They played 80's music around the ship, had 80's related trivia games and photo op's you could dress up in 80's clothes and hair. They also had frog and horse races. If you need anything more specific, I can pull out my Fun Times and see if I can answer.
skrufy Posted November 18, 2015 #3 Share Posted November 18, 2015 We are going on one in January. There are many who would like to see the dress from the 80s actvities. If you have any photos could you post them for all of us to see.
crzndeb Posted November 18, 2015 #4 Share Posted November 18, 2015 I only saw a few passengers dress up for the 80's day...it was mostly the entertainment staff. Saw a few Olivia Newton John "Physical" exercise outfits and a couple Madonna looks, but that was about it. Didn't take any photos. Sorry.
Cool Breeze Cruiser Posted November 19, 2015 #5 Share Posted November 19, 2015 We were on the Glory Journey October 31st cruise with 8 AMAZING ports! The Throwback Sea Day was a lot of fun. There was Roll the Dice Horse Racing, Ping Pong Bathing Suit Challenge, Aqua Frog Racing, Men's Knobby Knees Contest, 80's dance classes & trivia, the Formal Captain's Cocktail Party & the Grand Gala Midnight Buffet. The Dive-in movies were Back to the Future & Raider's of the Lost Ark. Not many people dressed in 80s outfits except for the staff but some of our group did & everybody loved it & wanted to know how we knew to bring 80s clothes. There was a photo booth set up with 80s wear but since we had ours we just had pics made at one of the back drops. Our horse lost! Bets were $2 each & you could bet as many times & on as many horses as you wanted. Ping pong ball challenge This lady was the winner! The area near the pool was packed during the Frog Racing so get there early. We didn't 'race' but my 'neighbor' did. Juli
Cool Breeze Cruiser Posted November 19, 2015 #6 Share Posted November 19, 2015 You could line up on one side of the Amber Palace at the Captain's Cocktail Party if you wanted pictures with the Captain & on the other side if you did not. Our Captain had to be one of the least photogenic people EVER & after looking through a lot of the pics in the Pixels Gallery our pic was actually one of the ones where he looked the best! idlenote Posted November 19, 2015 #7 Share Posted November 19, 2015 The dinner on the 80's day was wonderful. Unfortunately, it only went to show us how much things had slipped over the intervening years. Second best filet mignon I think I've ever had. The horse racing was something I hadn't seen since the 70's but was fun, DW got a big kick out of it (as well as winning some money). The men's knee competition was as raunchy as it's always been. It made a nice break from the normal routine on a long cruise.

kicia Posted November 19, 2015 #12 Share Posted November 19, 2015 Was this an 80's cruise or was Journey on this cruise as well? The Journeys cruises have an 80's day. Has nothing to do with the group called Journey. These are longer cruises that go to some islands Carnival doesn't usually sail to. It has a lot of special events that were held "long ago" but are not currently offered. We're going in February and are looking forward to it. NCTribeFan Posted November 19, 2015 #13 Share Posted November 19, 2015 We leave on the 28th for 11 nights on Sunshine from Port Canaveral to San Juan for our Journeys cruise (it's also a Premier casino sailing). I always write reviews and, this time, I'll try to be sure I take some notes. Didn't last month on Splendor to Bermuda and forgot a bunch of stuff by the time I got my review written. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the 80s, but it's going to be fun just to see what they do. I don't typically do a lot of on-board activities and never have, but I'm looking forward to seeing what it's like. Between all the ports (8 ports and only 2 sea days), the casino activities, and the Journeys activities, it's going to be a whirlwind! Sure wish I had enough PTO that I could stay in San Juan for a couple of days to rest up after my vacation! :p
