zipline excursion logistics on labadee

Hi. We are booked on the zipline excursion on Labadee at noon. With other excursions we have typically met on the ship at a defined location and then escorted to the bus, or whatever for the excursion. As this is the zipline on labadee, would someone kindly explain the logistics.... We will likely already be on the island enjoying the beach in the morning - then do we simply make our way over to the zipline at the designated time? Is there a ticket or something that will be issued?

Also, one additional question - one person in my group has not booked the excursion yet and is still undecided. Assuming there is still availability on the actual day, is it an option to purchase the zipline right there on the island?

thanks so much.

You will have tickets for the excursion in your stateroom when you arrive. The tickets will have info as to the meeting place and time. There is an option to purchase on the island, though there may not be space in your time slot.

thank you for the info - appreciate it. So the meeting time and place - is that on the island? We don't have to make our way back onto the ship just to meet up for the excursion, correct?

thanks.

The meeting spot is fairly close to the ending point of the zip line so not to worry you don't have to head back to the ship.

Yes, there is a check-in hut on Labadee.

It's an involved process to do the zipline. You will be checked-in, issued equipment, attend an orientation, do a mini zipline, then get trucked up to the big zipline. I think the entire process was around 90 minutes when my wife did it.

If you don't have reservations is there a place to walk up and inquire about openings? Our forecast is 91 degrees that "feels like" 97 so I'm game to zip but afraid to commit in case spending 90 minutes away from cooling water would be hard.

I guess where is the place to sign up is a better question or maybe signage makes it obvious. Is there a place to leave beach bag full of stuff while go zip? Lockers?

There are lockers available. Signs will guide you as well just ask any staff member on the island.

Red area on map. #7 is sign up.

Thanks!

ps Sorry, way off topic, but I think some review mentioned doing jet skis without a reservation and needing cash to pay them instead of the seapass card.

Are there Labadee islanders running jet skis in addition to the one you would book on the ship? I was going to take some cash on Labadee but not a ton. Can a 15 year old ride by himself or need a parent riding too?

You must have a drivers licence to operate those.

Should not have to pay cash for wave runners on Labadee, unless someone was not reporting some money to Royal.

Lockers are $8 and they are right by the Dragon's line signup. You will need to sign waivers and will be given a wristband with your time.

The entire process can be less than 90 minutes, depending on where you are in line with your group. After we did the mini zipline and were trucked to the top, we were the first ones down in our group. About 60 minutes overall for us. Yes, the ride is short, but worth it.

Enjoy it.

Even if the whole process takes only an hour, is it worth it?

I was going to do it next year, but now I'm not so sure.

I guess it depends on what value you place on your experiences. It was worth it for us, but wish it would have been less expensive.

There are a number of videos of it on youtube that you can view of it. Only you can determine if it is worth it to you.

So speaking of logistics. We dock at 8, and have the tour scheduled for 9am. Will we have enough time to get my Dad his cabana and get our kids into the kids club before the 9am tour?

If not, we might just worry about the kids and let Dad figure out the cabana himself (we put it under his name and reservation just in case this was an issue). Where on the map above is the kids club?

My wife said it was worth it to her to do once, but she has no desire to do it again at the current price of over $90.

That might be pushing it. Both times we were there it seemed to take forever to just get off the ship. One time we had to wait until they landed a Medivac on the pier between the ship and land. Then it's a pretty good walk into the village and especially if you go all the way down to the cabanas.

There is two lines at the hut for check in, one for reservations and one for walk ups.

Yes, it is well worth it at least once.

Here is a more up to date map. You may want to get your waivers signed at the booth as soon as you get off the ship. Since they do the mini line across the plaza from the signup booth, you could be a little late to it. One couple in our group got there a little late.

Here is a review from a couple years back when I posted in large font on our experience with the zip line.

We found the tickets that we pre booked on line in our cabin.

We booked the second time for the excursion 9:30 because we did not want to be rushed.

We leisurely walked off the ship, place our stuff on barefoot beach chairs took some pictures and went back to the check-in area near the end of the pier.

Upon arrival at 9:10ish am, they were still checking people in for the 9 am excursion, and some did not show......they asked if our party of three would want to go early we said yes.

We watched a safety video, and then were fitted with our harnesses and told not to touch anything.

Then for those who wanted lockers they got them and the rest of us walked over to the practice run.

We were re-given the safety instructions, and soon we went down the practice run......it was great.

Then from there we walked to the BIG all -terrain vehicles and took a 5 min ride outside the gates and up the mountain side. Yes their were guards with guns.

We rode up the mountain no guard rails and , exited.

Up on the platform they had fresh water and re-explained the safety features

Ok I have a fear of heights, and you could tell that the attendant placing me and getting me ready to go----- sensed my anxiety. He goes, do you want to do this I said yes, I then said------ just count down for me 3-2-1 before you let me go.

Then he tells me to just look at the top of the trees and when I felt comfortable to look at the view.

So he counts

3

2

1

and he released me, a moment of panic, pretty green trees, then I was in awe, the ship, the coast line, the angels (just kidding).

The one minute and 53 seconds were great I was ready to do it again.

My picture came out awesome and I bought it and it came in a "jacket" telling about the statistics about this zip line.

The end when you hit the breaker bars makes you bounce back a little but the mighty strong locals grab you.

Got off and beamed with excitement I was so proud I did it.

From checking in till I had my feet on the ground was almost 90 min.

You should go to YOU TUBE and search for the video :

Freedom of the seas, Labadee zip line.

It shows someone videotaping going on it.

Enjoy

We did.

Book early in the day, sometimes the wind comes to strong and they delay some runs, and later runs are cancelled, you would get a refund if this happened.

Safe travels.
