Mmketeer Posted November 24, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 24, 2015 (edited) I am sailing on Friday and I just got a call from Royal Caribbean that says that according to my deck level I shouldn't arrive to the terminal until after 2pm? What's going on? I am Platinum C&A member and have always gotten to the terminal early and got to board right after Diamond and Emerald (which I'll be after this sailing). Is this a new procedure or a scare tactic? Don't these people realize we have to be out of our hotel rooms by 11am? Maybe they are trying to save money and keep people from eating lunch onboard. Clarea Posted November 24, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 24, 2015 Suggested boarding times have not been enforced for cruises out of US ports.
Mmketeer Posted November 24, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted November 24, 2015 Whew, thank you for that. I was hoping it was just a scare tactic for folks who haven't cruised before. But, I haven't been able to sail for almost 4 years, so I didn't know for sure. Thanks for confirming, looking forward to getting lunch onboard and my Bahama Mama for sail away! heidiatmn Posted November 25, 2015 #4 Share Posted November 25, 2015 I had the same concern. I last cruised a year ago and didn't get this message. I hope it's not a change.
Rare mr walker Posted November 25, 2015 #5 Share Posted November 25, 2015 Don't these people realize we have to be out of our hotel rooms by 11am? Doesn't this apply to the hotel also ie "Don't these people realize we can't arrive at the cruise terminal until 2pm?" Scotty G Posted November 25, 2015 #6 Share Posted November 25, 2015 Doesn't this apply to the hotel also ie "Don't these people realize we can't arrive at the cruise terminal until 2pm?" We have experienced delayed reporting in Tampa when ships initially arrive in the US from being overseas. This prohibited our hotel transportation from going to the pier prier to the port authority allowing them to enter the port area. Somethings are out of our control despite C&A status. ;) Don't know if this is the case in any other ports?
Virtopia Posted November 25, 2015 #7 Share Posted November 25, 2015 I have never followed their arrival time recommendations ... I just go when I'm good and ready. On my last cruise, we arrived at the port at 11am and were on board within an hour.
sergeant655 Posted November 25, 2015 #8 Share Posted November 25, 2015 Anthem has you pick a port arrival time . It is exactly the same as disney. You select your time when checking in online and it is first come first served
Firefighterhoop Posted November 25, 2015 #9 Share Posted November 25, 2015 It is their way of crowd control. There will always be people coming from Hotels, airports, etc that they can not control - but if they can split up some groups over a course of 3 hours, it can reduce the amount of people that get to the port right away or at 11/noon. monctonguy Posted November 25, 2015 #11 Share Posted November 25, 2015 I got one of those voicemails and emails for my last cruise...was the first time I ever did after many cruises. Not sure why deck 5 is always the last to board. I still showed up at 11 and was on by about 11:30am enjoying a cold drink.....
Rare crusinthrough Posted November 25, 2015 #12 Share Posted November 25, 2015 Maybe they are trying to save money and keep people from eating lunch onboard. When people get on early the cruise line makes money on bar sales. .
gagirl7143 Posted November 25, 2015 #13 Share Posted November 25, 2015 Always been this message. Nothing has changed here or in foreign ports. Only time this has happened to us was in Istanbul and ship had to have super cleaning from Noro
