Indytraveler83 Posted November 25, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 25, 2015 I'm hoping those of you more familiar with Carnival and its website can help me figure this one out: When I booked my first cruise, Carnival's website had a pop up tell me that if I booked all of my excursions right now, I'd receive a discount. At that point I hadn't researched them at all, so I turned the offer down. For the cruise I just booked, I researched in advance just in case I received the same offer, and lo and behold it came up again. The 20% discount is pretty significant considering how much everyone will fight and call just to get small reductions in cruise fare. However, I've never seen anyone mention this on this site. Did I just get lucky to receive this offer twice? Or is this one of those things that everyone already knows when booking and I'm just behind? riffatsea Posted November 25, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 25, 2015 I've not seen that pop up so I guess it doesn't happen all the time.
Indytraveler83 Posted November 25, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted November 25, 2015 I've not seen that pop up so I guess it doesn't happen all the time. Interesting. This makes me even more curious. The discount was 20% which means we saved $100 on excursions for our upcoming trip. Not enormous, but not chump change either. Wonder if anyone knows the strategy neccisary to get this offer to come up? Or is it random? For as much as some of us fight for 20 and 30 dollar price drops, I'm honestly surprised to not see more about this one. Maybe most of you are saving even more by booking private tours? I hope I'm not harping on a silly point, but I'm most comfortable with the ship excursions as this point in my cruising career, and figuring out how to get that discount as often as possible would be fantastic! evandbob Posted November 25, 2015 #4 Share Posted November 25, 2015 I've seen the offer come up but only when I first book a cruise - usually it's for 3 excursions at 3 different ports. Each port can be scrolled through to see what excursions are being offered. One is not limited to the 3 tours shown on the first panel. I wasn't prepared at that time to make a selection, nor did I have the time to price compare to standard rates.
riffatsea Posted November 25, 2015 #5 Share Posted November 25, 2015 It sounds like it comes up if you book directly on the web site and immediately look at excursions. Not everyone does that.
Indytraveler83 Posted November 25, 2015 Author #6 Share Posted November 25, 2015 Ok, so sounds like the offer usually comes up, but only when you first book, and only if you choose a Carnival excursion at each of your ports?
bakersdozen12 Posted November 25, 2015 #7 Share Posted November 25, 2015 I got the offer when I booked my last cruise (under the past guest rate). It was only good for two days. What rate did you book under? I wonder if it is tied to the rate type you book under.

What rate did you book under? I wonder if it is tied to the rate type you book under. Well the first time I got the offer I think it was as Early Saver, my most recent booking was this "no snow" promotional rate. Neither time did it give me 2 days though, it was book now or loose the offer.

Runaway Parent Posted November 25, 2015 #10 Share Posted November 25, 2015 We always book directly on the website or by calling Carnival. The offer has only been on our most recent booking.
theriac Posted November 26, 2015 #11 Share Posted November 26, 2015 I just saw it for the first time about a month ago booking a cruise. I put a hold online, called my PVP to pay. She told me I needed to buy FTTF online so when I went to the excursions page it popped up. The excursions offered I didn't think looked good. I wish I knew you could have changed them. I just thought Carnival was slow on selling excursions on my sailing over Christmas. I even got FTTF for $49.95 opposed to the standard $59.95. This was also a casino rate. I guess it's always offered, but I've never checked the excursion page immediately after booking.
vwrestler171 Posted November 26, 2015 #12 Share Posted November 26, 2015 I've had it happen on my last 2 bookings. For my cruise that I just got home from, I got one. Also got an offer for my Miracle cruise for next November. I was able to save $100 on 2 excursions. Wish I knew how they decide to give them too. We always book early saver and usually the excursions aren't listed at the time of our early booking. I would definitely take advantage of it if I did get lucky enough to receive the offer. phoneman69 Posted March 2, 2017 #14 Share Posted March 2, 2017 I see this is an old Thread but I did receive the offer when I booked my cruise for Sept 2017. It was a casino past guest booking offer. Not prepared at booking to buy excursions. Hope it again become available before sailing date.
cmichael1279 Posted March 2, 2017 #15 Share Posted March 2, 2017 I THINK it has something to do with how far out your cruise is. I booked five in the past year, four months was the maximum time out from booking to sailing - I got the offer every time.
imluvncruzn Posted March 2, 2017 #16 Share Posted March 2, 2017 I booked a New Years Eve cruise last week and I received the 20% off offer. I booked Early Saver rate and directly through the website. You have to book the excursions within 48 hours of booking your cruise.
hofmanns4 Posted March 2, 2017 #17 Share Posted March 2, 2017 I recieved the 20% offer too! We did not book directly thru Carnival, but I logged on a few minutes later and added the new booking to our account. I happened to go to the Manage page the next evening and there was a countdown that I had 18 hours left for the offer. I thought odd that there was never an email or notification of the offer. If I had not went to that page specifically I never would have known.
beckatron Posted March 2, 2017 #18 Share Posted March 2, 2017 We booked about a month ago for a June Dream sailing - our first on Carnival and got the offer. We had to book within 48 hours I think. I was not prepared at the time of booking but I spent my weekend researching so we could take advantage of the offer. It seemed like a pretty good deal. We did not book an ES rate - I thought maybe it was a first time cruiser on Carnival thing but it looks like that might not be the case.
bmdz412 Posted March 2, 2017 #19 Share Posted March 2, 2017 I looked at excursions right after I booked. I have never seen the offer. :-(

Recently we added a cabin for a friend about 4 mos out of sailing ... we got the offer on her cabin. I think it was 24 hours ... but it might have been 48. Never seen it before or since. mishelerenee Posted March 4, 2017 #22 Share Posted March 4, 2017 I didn't book directly through Carnival; however, I am a VIFP cruiser. We booked our cruise for December 23, 2017 departure on the evening of March 2, 2017. I added the booking to my carnival.com account on March 3rd. That same day I perused excursions and the 20% bundle offer popped up. It was good for 24 hours. Like the others stated, I was able to change my options for both ports. Good saving, and no penalty to cancel if we do so 4 hour or more before the cruise departs !!! That made it less stressful to decide on excursions so quickly. Though I did take the time to research most of the options that looked interesting for my family,
imluvncruzn Posted March 5, 2017 #23 Share Posted March 5, 2017 There seems to be no rhyme or reason to who receives the offer. My cruise is 10 months away and I received the offer.
Port of Tampa Posted March 5, 2017 #24 Share Posted March 5, 2017 We booked a NY-Canada cruse last week for 2 September 2017 and had 48 hours to get the bundled excursion discount. We were able to chose between excursions from thee ports. Found three we liked and saved $100. Cheers and happy cruising.
laymay Posted March 6, 2017 #25 Share Posted March 6, 2017 It's popped up on all of mine in the past year I think. That being said, I didn't realize you could switch the excursions! Might take advantage of it if it pops up again.
