cruisingram1 Posted November 25, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 25, 2015 Have not cruised a lot on Princess, but my two upcoming cruises allow my DH's military OBC as well as a stockholders OBC. As I read the restrictions for this new sale, it looks like Princess is starting to replicate RCCL with limitation on stacking OBC. They surely can't control the perks from my TA ( I hope!) but is this usual for Princess when they run good sales? I was already adding up my OBC before I got to the exclusions. [emoji22] Also noticed that one cannot use in casino and its non refundable. Not that $600 OBC isn't generous, it's not as much if you subtract the perks you can't use. cruisingram1 Posted November 25, 2015 #5 Share Posted November 25, 2015 It is never allowed in the casino and is never refundable. This seems standard issue Princess to me. I was questioning the restrictions on stacking OBC. The fact that it can't be used in the casino and is not refundable does not bother me. As an aside, when Princess gives me a $300 OBC and I use it in a store onboard, the value to me might be $300, but Princess probably paid $150 for that product. Letting me use it for cash in the casino or refund it- that's a $300 output. I think that's why cruise lines want to limit what one can use a credit for. Again, I'm not saying I'm not grateful to any OBC but I think about them differently based on how I can use it.
icat2000 Posted November 25, 2015 #6 Share Posted November 25, 2015 Princess probably put restrictions on the OBC because too many people where OBC stacking and then bragging about how they could cash it out in the casino and take it home. So, Princess change things.

It has been my experience on Princess that the military and shareholder credits are always given regardless of any OBC offered as a sales promotion. I think what Princess is saying is that this sale's OBC may not be combined with OBC given by a different sales promotion that might be offered later. skf Posted November 25, 2015 #8 Share Posted November 25, 2015 I'm pretty sure nukesub is correct. I believe the restrictions refer to other SALES promos but not the regular benefits given to shareholders or vets.

I think what Princess is saying is that this sale's OBC may not be combined with OBC given by a different sales promotion that might be offered later. That is what I am hoping! We are planning a family trip to Alaska in 2017. There will be at least 11 cabins. A good number of the people have cruised Princess before and that is the probable cruise line. Can't say for sure until the schedule releases in the next week or so. But having a great promotion in addition to other perks for those to whom it is applicable makes the choice of Princess even greater.

ometauru Posted November 26, 2015 #12 Share Posted November 26, 2015 I called Princess earlier today and the CSR said that all onboard credit is treated the same and can be used for anything including betting in the casino. Did I just get a clueless rep? I also asked about buying casino credit and she said that there wasn't anything like that and it was all just OBC. The OBC combinability thing just means if you are previously booked with a Rate Code that gives you OBC , it will be replaced by whatever this new Rate Code gives you. You can only have 1 Rate Code for your booking. Nothing like those restrictive RCI OBC's  No precise dates yet , just saying over 700 sailings. Your TA should see the ships, dates and rates a few days before the Sale begins. 6-DAY WESTERN CARIBBEAN November 2016 – April 2017 7-DAY MEXICO & CALIFORNIA May – April 2017 7-DAY ALASKA May – September 2016 Roundtrip Seattle 10-NIGHT ALASKA LAND & SEA VACATIONS May – September 2016 11-DAY SCANDINAVIA & RUSSIA May – August 2016 14-DAY MEDITERRANEAN May – September 2016
anthonyy7 Posted November 26, 2015 #18 Share Posted November 26, 2015 Is this for new bookings only? I have free grats and specialty dinner right now. I guess I'll have to see how much OBC is offered for a BB cat balcony. I have OBC (incl FCC) from my TA. What's the new gratuities? 12.95 a day? dianef Posted November 26, 2015 #20 Share Posted November 26, 2015 I have round-trip Seattle for Alaska cruise in July on the Ruby.Right now we are getting practically free airfare, but cruise price is pretty high. It says up to $1000 off cruise plus free OBC.Booked oceanview staterooms. Will have to factor in losing airfare and seeing if cruise prices go down enough to re-book. karen_g Posted November 27, 2015 #22 Share Posted November 27, 2015 So, I booked an Alaska cruise a couple of weeks ago for June 2016. For the first time ever, I decided to use a travel agent that I found online. Do I just call the travel agent on Dec 10th and ask her about this sale? Since I've never used a travel agent before, I'm not sure how to proceed...
