didiaust Posted November 30, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 30, 2015 Looking for advice as to easy to access laundromats in the following ports. Picton, Wellington, Napier, Tauranga or Auckland. Are there any close by to where ship docks in any of the above places. Your help appreciated Di
GUT2407 Posted November 30, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 30, 2015 Saw one in Port Chalmers, didn't notice one in Picton or Wellington, but Wellington must have one somewhere, but probably in the suburbs I suspect. Fortunately being in Princess we didn't need one.
Rare MicCanberra Posted December 1, 2015 #3 Share Posted December 1, 2015 There was a Laundromat nearby (within 3 blocks) in Auckland. Google will be your friend.:D
kiwijohn Posted December 1, 2015 #4 Share Posted December 1, 2015 Closest one to the Cruise Terminal in Wellington would be 24 Elizabeth St off Kent Terrace in Courtenay Place and on bus route to Eastern suburbs
goodycruising Posted December 1, 2015 #5 Share Posted December 1, 2015 I just did a quick google for "laundromat Tauranga", and a couple came up, but they do also say commercial laundry. Might be worth a google check and quick email to confirm open hours and processing times.

In Tauranga I think this one would be the closest: http://yellow.co.nz/y/mount-maunganui-laundry
sonia2509 Posted December 1, 2015 #7 Share Posted December 1, 2015 (edited) We did our washing in Port Chalmers/Dunedin. Just up the Main Street of Port Chalmers on the right hand side half way up. The dairy (convenience store) a couple of shops down sell $1 washing sachet. $3 per load in the washing machine and $4 per load for the dryer. We had hired a car that day, and then went off and explored the countryside Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Edited December 1, 2015 by sonia2509
Onyx Laundry Posted March 11, 2019 #8 Share Posted March 11, 2019 Onyx Laundry in Mount Manganui - walking distance from the port and you can drop off your laundry while you sight see. Melkaracam Posted March 14, 2019 #10 Share Posted March 14, 2019 On our last cruise my daughter did washing at the laundry mat at Napier. I caught up on ours at a laundry mat in Dunedin. They were both easy to find
Big Kev Posted March 18, 2019 #11 Share Posted March 18, 2019 Laundromat in PICTON a short walk from where the bus drops you off. You will pass it on the way in to town.
Rare MicCanberra Posted March 18, 2019 #12 Share Posted March 18, 2019 The laundry on the ship is much closer and they actually take it there from your cabin and return it again for you.
Rare mr walker Posted March 18, 2019 #13 Share Posted March 18, 2019 We treat our port days as opportunities to explore & learn, and work on the basis that we may never be there again - ever. I cannot imagine that we would spend time doing laundry during the limited time we have in each port. I guess if there was a drop-off and pickup laundry that would be much cheaper than on the ship, perhaps we could do that, but what if it's all-aboard and the clothes are not done?? Nah, second thoughts, just give the laundry bag to Stewart and get the laundry done on-board.

Spend your days ashore exploring NZ rather than the inside of a laundry. 😊
