WifeOfaBish Posted December 1, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 1, 2015 I am looking for a great place to eat on the island. Price is not really an issue. If prefer something on the water. Suggestions?! Thank you
modelman Posted December 1, 2015 #2 Share Posted December 1, 2015 I am a big fan of Mickey's on Elbow Beach. But others love Coconuts at the Reef's. Both are on the Beach. Mickey's Coconuts
blue_water Posted December 2, 2015 #3 Share Posted December 2, 2015 (edited) Agree, and we enjoy Coconuts at the Reefs, especially for dinner and music after. We enjoy listening to Randy Lambert and his band Tempo there evenings. Randy inflects a unique islandy sound to classic calypso music as well as more mainstream new hits. Suggestion - if you see Randy is playing at the Bone Fish Bar & Grill in port on Tues, Fri, or Sun afternoon check him out. Excellent musician/singer who plays Spanish guitar as well. We also like Hog Penny as a casual pub with great English cuisine, and there are some exquisite restaurants like Fourways Inn and Tom Moore's Tavern. WifeOfaBish Posted December 2, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted December 2, 2015 Since we are on a cruise. We are probably looking for lunch.
navybankerteacher Posted December 7, 2015 #6 Share Posted December 7, 2015 For lunch, the Hog Penny in Hamilton is worth the likely wait to get seated. If you are willing to get away from Hamilton, the Swizzle Inn, down near St. George, has great food and atmosphere, as has the White Horse on the harbor in St. George. I remember Pawpaw's on the South Road as a great, reasonably priced spot (if it is still there). For a really special occasion (anniversary or big birthday) dinner at Tom Moore's Tavern would be memorable: costly, and a long taxi ride, but a centuries old institution with great food. njhorseman Posted December 7, 2015 #7 Share Posted December 7, 2015 We've crossed the Whitehorse off our list of favorite lunch spots. On our most recent visit in October we found it to be filthy and the food was poorly prepared.
blue_water Posted December 7, 2015 #8 Share Posted December 7, 2015 For lunch we also like the Pickled Onion in Hamilton just across from the ferry terminal. We love their pizza and sitting on the balcony overlooking the waterfront. http://www.thepickledonion.com/

On our most recent visit in October we found it to be filthy and the food was poorly prepared. Too bad .... they used to have a pretty good menu and a great deck overlooking St. George harbor. Last visit was about 4 years ago. I wonder if the end of regular cruise ship port calls at St. George killed their market.

I like the ocean view. There are other decent lunch spots. The local dish is fish..... but you can get Portuguese Red Bean Soup. Also of course burgers etc. Edited December 29, 2015 by Charles4515
