SuiteCruiser Posted December 10, 2015 #11 Share Posted December 10, 2015 We don't have to declare casino or lottery winnings here in Canada :) I won $1967 on a slot machine on Escape, and also hit up another $1 moving from one machine to another one night.

Coastalbreezes Posted December 10, 2015 #16 Share Posted December 10, 2015 Silly people, The taxman may be watching Any winnings over $1200 are subject to W-2G tax forms (for American citizens) which are given to you on the spot. Tracy
mugtech Posted December 10, 2015 #17 Share Posted December 10, 2015 Do you think NCL is losing money in the casinos? How much did others have to lose to allow others to win? If you win over $1,200 as a US citizen it must be reported as income and the losses can be taken as an itemized deduction up to the winnings. So if one does not itemize deductions but spent $1,500 to win $1,200, not only did you actually lose $300, but you paid tax on $1,200. Not much of a win. mattio Posted December 10, 2015 #23 Share Posted December 10, 2015 Never did hit a jackpot, but I did win $70 on slots and then use that money to buy a Deal or No Deal Card, won $50 off that.
brookie848 Posted December 10, 2015 #24 Share Posted December 10, 2015 (edited) On our last cruise, we saw someone hit for $15,000 (give or take some change) on a penny slot machine. It was the last night. Two years ago on the Epic, my parents won a combined $8,000 in jackpots all on video poker (they generally play quarter machines, though sometimes my Dad will play 50 cent machines). They played mostly at the bar near the elevators -- non-smoking machines. Edited December 10, 2015 by brookie848
