I have won thousands of dollars on several NCL cruises.  Didn’t win anything on the Bliss.  Hit $25k once on a slot.  My partner won $2000 on the lottery...just one more number and it would have been over a Million.  Casino at Seas is GREAT!!!

Slow day to dig up a 3+ year old thread? ☺

The OP's question is actually not clear.  If you are asking do people hit jackpots on cruises?  Absolutely.  ALL THE TIME.  If you consider a "jackpot" a single win of over $1200 on slots, I average about 3 "jackpots" per 7-day cruise.

If the question is truly "do people win" in casinos, the answer is "sometimes".  It's just like Kenny Rogers said - "you gotta know when to hold 'em and no when to fold 'em (and especially know when to walk away!!)

If it costs me $1500 to hit a $1200 "jackpot", of course I don't consider that a win.  I've hit $3,000 "jackpots" that cost me $5K to hit.  Again, not a win.

So if people want to know if the machines actually pay out - yes they do!  Will you be a winner?  Depends on how smart you are!  😉

Welcome to Cruise Critic! Congrats on your wins!

My DW enjoys playing the Fortune 88 slot. After dinner she stopped in to play it but a lady was on it so she sat down at a different machine next to her. Shortly after the lady at the Fortune 88 machine hit the Grand Jackpot for $19,862 on a minimum 88 cent bet. Timing is everything.

Not a real high roller on cruise ships.  On one cruise the slots seemed incredibly tight,  This was back in the day when you filled out a paper review of your cruise.  I whined about how the casino was so bad.  That night, after turning in the survey, I won what I had lost plus some.  I felt bad, LOL.

I’m not a slots person, when I do casino it’s blackjack preferentially, occasionally craps when the cards don’t go my way—however, as far as slots, every single slots pull I’ve participated in has won almost zero - only a couple, but you would think that putting in a few $thousand by the time all were done, we’d have won a few $hundred at least.  I get that statistically you can lose (or win) every pull over the short-term but over millions of hands it will even out, it just seemed very odd to me to lose abysmally all slot pull times.

No comment on craps/bj winnings because it’s been years since I did much of it.  I may have won $100 on Bliss a year ago, not sure, but haven’t played since.

Comment to BJ newbies - be certain you know the rules for your table, I think the $5 tables may do even money on BJ, which may not seem like a big deal but it is, you really do need every edge.  Ask before sitting.

My husband won $20k on video poker the last night on our Caribbean Getaway cruise. We had to pay taxes on it and got held in customs when leaving the ship. He didn't play much on our last cruise, we were trying to remember which machine it was that he won on.

yes, Me. I usually play 20 dollars on a sea day, during the day. I have won $300 dollars, another time 400 dollars. 100 here and there, but i never go back. I play my 20 dollars win or lose, but if i win i stop playing immediately :-)....

Do you think NCL is losing money in the casinos? How much did others have to lose to allow others to win? If you win over $1,200 as a US citizen it must be reported as income and the losses can be taken as an itemized deduction up to the winnings. So if one does not itemize deductions but spent $1,500 to win $1,200, not only did you actually lose $300, but you paid tax on $1,200. Not much of a win.

I thought about playing on my last cruise (I enjoy poker and blackjack) but I took a look at the way their games are built (and the rake for poker) and yikes.  Terrible terrible ROR.
