Beach Day for family on budget

Hi!

 

We are a group of 15 (kids from 2-13, parents and grand parents) crusing on the Liberty of the Seas next March. Most in our group are new to cruises and have already stretched their budgets to be part of this trip so we are looking for unexpensinve activities to do at the different ports we will visit (Roatan, Belize and Cozumel).

 

Since the cruise ship experience will be new to most of our group, the activities on the ship will be enjoyable and new, so for the days at shore, we are looking for beaches we can spend a fews hours at and that won`t cost a fortune in transport and all inclusive fees.

 

I have read about the Mahogany Bay in Roatan that we can walk to from Carnival ship. Is it also the case for Royal Carribbean or is it a different pier?

 

Any suggestions would be great!:)

Sorry, Liberty of the Seas docks in Coxen Hole, so Mahogany Bay is out of the question for you. You'll need your ship ID to enter the beach area. I think the nearest beach would be Pirates Bay at Las Palmas. Just on the other side of the airport. Otherwise, you're talking about taxi fare to a West Bay beach. And in that case a reasonable alternative would be to book with one of the independent tour guides and take an island tour. Usually 4 or more people the fare is $25 pp.

Thanks for the info. Too bad for mahogany bay but glad I asked. I guess we would have to take a cab to pirates bay? Is it a public beach or is there an all inclusive fee?

Not a public beach. But located in a resort development. Google Las Palmas, Pirates Bay to check most recent information.

Las palmas is usually offered as a cruise ship excursion or I think you can also go independently. For a group your size you would probably be best to get a driver for a day (usually $25pp) so you have the flexability to go when and where you want.

 

If you are looking for a quiet relaxing day, not far from port, we have taken the standard day pass to Club Natale with little ones, transport included. We have purchased food and drink a la carte. You may be able to purchase different passes for different ages as appropriate or you may get a discount for a group that size. You will more than likely have the place almost to yourselves! One word of warning,in case it is important to you the club house and restatuarant and pool are a 3-5 minute walk from the beach. We have taken a cooler down for 2 of us as there isn't a bar on the beach but for a larger group they have said they would make arrangements. Worth an email to The owner if you are interested.

Another quiet place with inexpensive pass and transport included to check out is Turquoise Bay. If you want crowds, activities, excellent snorkeling, you should look at west Bay.

 

For ease of transport, lunch included - the cruise ship excursion to Maya Key can't be beat. Not the most budget friendly option since you would have to pay for most of the kids, which bumps up the price, but certainly convenient with a 5 minute boat transport directly from the pier right alongside where the ship docks at Coxen Hole. This was the option we chose last time with a 4 year old mainly for convenience of travel. You have the option to return at different times if some members of the group have had enough.

you have paid for it already & no sand to get in your shoes ;)
