Guaranteed cabin with Caribbean Princess, when and how will I know my cabin #?

By booking a guarantee, you give Princess permission to assign you cabin at any time. It could be today, but it could be a late as when you arrive at the pier. You can ask for a change, but don't count on it. You can ask about an upgrade. If one is available, the cost would be the current cost of the upgraded cabin minus what you paid for the guarantee.

Keep in mind that ships sail full, so there are not many if any cabin available at the last minute

How will you know your cabin number? You just need to keep logging into your cruise personalizer to check. There are threads from regular guarantee cabin bookers who claim they check a dozen times a day. You may receive an e-mail from Princess with a revised booking summary showing your cabin number when assigned, but they are not consistent about this.

If you are skittish about receiving a cabin assignment no better than the minimum category promised in the guarantee booking, the time to inquire about the cost of an upgrade is now, not after your cabin is assigned. Call Princess (or your TA if booked through one; Princess will not help you if you did) and ask about availability of confirmed cabin numbers in a higher category of your cabin class than the minimum one your booking guarantees; the additional cost may be lower than you think. (Or it may be quite higher...)

We booked a guarantee cabin on Coral Princess for this February and we had a cabin assignment in about a week. You need to just keep checking your cruise personalizer. They did not send us any notification when it was assigned.

As others have said, just keep checking every few days. There is no magic time and it might happen anytime just after booking until the last few days. In rare instances you might not know until you get to the port (this is very rare with Princess). Once you get a cabin assignment, if you are unhappy you can certainly try to get a change or perhaps negotiate to pay for some type of upgrade. This is best done before your cruise, but it is sometimes possible to change your cabin once aboard.
