OfTheSeasCruiser Posted January 21, 2016 #27 Share Posted January 21, 2016 On the Allure Next week... maybe a 7 day cruise with 2 Ports... Oh well its the Allure - the ship is just as fun. Hoping that if the situation continues, Royal will find alternative ports. I know Allure can fit in Costa Maya. They could also add Nassau to the first day, but I think I'd rather have the sea day! ;)
WupperAV Posted January 21, 2016 #28 Share Posted January 21, 2016 Let's all protest the protest. They are losing a lot of money. "Today, when Freedom of the Seas arrived to Labadee, Haiti, the ship encountered a number of locals in small boats staging a protest. Although this protest was peaceful in nature, it was clear that if the protest continued, there would be a significant impact on our guests’ ability to enjoy Labadee. cruisinrealtor Posted January 21, 2016 #29 Share Posted January 21, 2016 There should definitely be some kind of compensation. Especially since I'll be there on Feb 1st. Part of the reason I booked this cruise is for labadee. Never been and have heard nothing but great things about it.
sr71pav Posted January 21, 2016 #30 Share Posted January 21, 2016 On the Allure Next week... maybe a 7 day cruise with 2 Ports... Oh well its the Allure - the ship is just as fun. Literally, in the same boat. Next week could be interesting. Always wanted a weeklong cruise to no where. This may be the closest I ever get. Tagsalong Posted January 21, 2016 #31 Share Posted January 21, 2016 We are on Vision leaving Tampa tomorrow and scheduled to be in Labadee on Jan. 24th. Sherri:) Sorry, but we are on the VI now and have been told that we will not be going to Labadee next cruise. Jan 24 will be a "sea day".
Drill2dk Posted January 21, 2016 #32 Share Posted January 21, 2016 If local start so much unrest, the country is not stable and RCL would not want the risk or liability, could this mean then end of ladadee as a stop? Haiti use be a large tourist area, there was even club med at one time. No due to unstable movement and crime, all has closed. Hope this is not next.:(
Rare markeb Posted January 21, 2016 #33 Share Posted January 21, 2016 Without getting political, Haiti hasn't been stable for a very long time, but somehow Labadee has. While this week's events COULD be indicative of problems with Labadee's future, I'd take a few deep breaths and see if this continues for a period of time. I suspect once the election is over, things will return to "normal". There are a number of reasons I don't like "normal", but the relationship with Labadee isn't one of them. cincicruisers Posted January 21, 2016 #34 Share Posted January 21, 2016 If they are not going to stop at Labadee in the near future (we are scheduled on March 3rd) I am hoping they substitute another port.
WaveSplasher Posted January 21, 2016 #35 Share Posted January 21, 2016 We're on the Navigator in 2 weeks which gives RC plenty of time to find us another port if this continues. Did they offer you and onboard credit to make up for this? Maybe they will switch it with Coco Cay?
Beardface Posted January 21, 2016 #36 Share Posted January 21, 2016 Starting to look like this is more a workers strike than political protests... Also happened in 2008. Issues were resolved within a week.
yogimax Posted January 21, 2016 #37 Share Posted January 21, 2016 RCCL has been very good to the people of Haiti. Bottom line - Haiti needs RCCL.
bdcruiser14 Posted January 21, 2016 #38 Share Posted January 21, 2016 I agree, I'm supposed to be there on the 6th. We already have 5 sea days on a 10 cruise. We don't need anymore!
cruising grandma Posted January 21, 2016 #39 Share Posted January 21, 2016 On my last night of a five night cruise on Brilliance.....missed Key West, so only had Cozumel as a port. Life goes on....getting on Vision in the morning, then Freedom after that. Supposed to go to Key West and Labadee on Vision and Labadee on Freedom. We shall see what happens. I'd rather be safe.....thanks Royal Caribbean! I can do without Key West or Labadee, if I'm in danger due to rough seas or tension and protests. Rare BillOh Posted January 21, 2016 #41 Share Posted January 21, 2016 (edited) There is now a 3 day break with no ships scheduled. The next scheduled ship is the Navigator on Jan 25th. Does that include Celebrity? (assuming you checked one of the port schedule sites.) Edited January 21, 2016 by BillOh

DeepFreeze Posted January 21, 2016 #43 Share Posted January 21, 2016 On Navigator. Our stop in Labadee has been cancelled. Refunds in OBC. Damn shame, because it's a nice stop. Oh well. Feel bad for the workers losing income. [emoji389]
bouhunter Posted January 21, 2016 #44 Share Posted January 21, 2016 Actually, I'm ok with that. :D Sherri:) A lot of people enjoy the stop at Labadee:rolleyes:
Ken at the beach Posted January 21, 2016 #45 Share Posted January 21, 2016 Does that include Celebrity? (assuming you checked one of the port schedule sites.) Yes it did. Celebrity will be there (maybe) after the 25th. There is a run of about 6 days in a row with ships in port. (Again maybe) it was cruisett that I used to check. LeesSummitCruiser1 Posted January 21, 2016 #46 Share Posted January 21, 2016 We are on the March 19th sailing of Navigator. I hope it is quiet by then or maybe we could go to Jamaica. It's always nice and quiet there :)

Midwestgal Posted January 21, 2016 #49 Share Posted January 21, 2016 One of the reasons I booked my cruise was to visit Labadee but honestly I would be okay with CoCo Cay instead. Looking at pictures over the last few months Labadee's beaches don't look so hot too me.

Looking at pictures over the last few months Labadee's beaches don't look so hot too me. I'm on the same cruise as you. Don't expect CocoCay, as Oasis Class can't tender. Alternative ports would probably be either Nassau or Costa Maya. Btw, I love Labadee's beaches.
