Cruisin Kay D Posted January 21, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2016 After recent murder of an American woman, will cruise ships continue to stop there??
MommaBear55 Posted January 21, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 21, 2016 No, an isolated murder in a remote area will not stop cruise ships from cruising to Belize. If that were so, they would have to stop cruising to Boston, Portland, ME , Baltimore for sure, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, etc, etc.
sun bum Posted January 21, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 21, 2016 We are booked on a 11 day Caribbean for 2017 and i noticed they pull Belize from our itinerary. we now stop in Cozumel for two days. i was told it was because of the recent murder. Rare Keith1010 Posted January 22, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 22, 2016 Yes it will be. There are murders in Los Angeles, New York City, Miami, etc. and these cities all have cruise ports. Keith
Rare crewsweeper Posted January 22, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 22, 2016 As I heard, the woman was vacationing, on her own at a farm in Western Belize and was alone in an isolated area when the murder occurred. Nothing to do with cruising or cruise ports. Celebrity may have higher ups that believe this news could be sensitive to their preferred clientele and thus decided to drop the cruise port. But unless it's occurring now on all Celebrity sailing, not in just 2017, I would assume something else is going on with Celebrity and local authorities or even tender operators. Rare mitsugirly Posted January 25, 2016 #6 Share Posted January 25, 2016 No, cruise ships will not pull out of there over a murder...whether it be an American visiting on vacation, living there, or coming by cruise ship. This happens all the time if you search. They will usually pull out for the week or so if it's cruise related and then it's back to business. An NCL crew member was killed right outside the terminal in Roatan. A week or so later, they were back to docking there.
