Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted January 28, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2016 Looking for advice [or even better an official answer from Bonnie :)]. Between one thing and another, we have a lot of OBC to use on our Azamara cruise -- and thanks to "more inclusive" many of the usual ways to spend it are already included :) We have rebooked two shore excursions that we are afraid might sell out [and paid via credit card] -- the question is whether we will be able to cancel these once on board and then rebook using the OBC? mara01 Posted January 28, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 28, 2016 I really hope so. We are in the same position and have booked one excursion so far, for the same reason. There are a couple of tours since we started looking that are not shown anymore so don't know whether they have just changed or are sold out. The downloadable Land Discoveries brochure seems to have more tours than are shown under the Shore Excursions for our reservation. Tempted to book others but want to use OBC or we will probably waste quite a bit of it.
tv24 Posted January 28, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 28, 2016 On our recent crossing we were lucky to have tons of OBC with limited possible uses. We did not book any excursions prior to boarding since we wanted to use some OBC on one to Seville. The excursion was sold out, but happily the Land Discoveries people, who probably wanted to sell more and maximize revenue, added another coach to expand the group and meet the demand. We went on the excursion, used our OBC, and best of all, had a terrific time. It's a risk to not book in advance, but in this situation, it all worked out. Henk123 Posted January 28, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 28, 2016 Direct booking when you are onboard give a big change to go with the excursion(s). Cancel onboard will not say that you can get the same excursion. Maybe there is a waiting list and you will be on the bottom then. Whe also had a lot and indeed excursion, but special restaurants, lot of internet minutes and better wine (by glass) will also work to spend those OBC's. I have the same question. With so many ship board credits it will be hard to use them unless you can cancel and reboo prepaid excursions. Otherwise, by waiting until you are onboard you risk not being able to get the excursion you want. It would be nice if you could pre-book excursions and charge them to your shipboard account which would resolve this problem.
Azamarajunkie Posted February 7, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 7, 2016 We are in the same position, as on our next cruise we have a lot of OBC from Azamara arising from a Quest cruise being cancelled due to the forthcoming dry dock . On a recent Seabourn cruise we prebooked to secure an excursion and had it transferred to our OBC when onboard, so why can't Azamara do the same? Remember that some credits (like those we get from our TA) are refundable if not used.
florisdekort Posted February 7, 2016 #8 Share Posted February 7, 2016 (edited) I have previously cancelled shore excursions on board that I had booked before the cruise on a credit card. The refund always came as... onboard credit. But perhaps the difference is that it becomes OBR, assuming that your existing onboard credit is OBN - which would then solve your problem Host Jazzbeau as you get any remaining OBR refunded to your credit card at the end of the cruise.
