It would be best to post this where the Florida Depatures experts reside: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=
Rare Keith1010 Posted February 18, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 18, 2016 Bob is right about the Florida Departures Board. I post there often so I will give my recommendation. A popular hotel that many people recommend, including myself, is the Embassy Suites on 17th street in Fort Lauderdale. It includes a nice breakfast. It is close to the port and airport and it is in walking distance of many restaurants. Keith
Treven Posted February 18, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 18, 2016 Welcome. My preference is the Marriott Renaissance on 17th St. It's close to restaurants, and walking distance t a wine store; I think it's Total Wine, but don't hold my feet to the fire over that. It's right across the street from a Wallgreens, and the entrance to the pier is right down the street - a short cab ride away. Actually I don't think you could go wrong with anything on 17th. St.
wowzz Posted February 18, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 18, 2016 If you are looking for a hotel in April of this year, you are cutting it a bit fine. I booked the Hyatt for our pre-cruise stay in April 10 months ago.
78232 Posted February 19, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 19, 2016 We like the Riverside on Las Olas. It is surrounded by interesting shops, restaurants and galleries.
Krazy Kruizers Posted February 19, 2016 #7 Share Posted February 19, 2016 We have stayed many times at the Embassy Suites both pre and post cruise. It is just a short walk to the Harbor Shops which has a Publix, Total Wine and other shops and restaurants. There are also a couple of strip malls in the same area that has shops and restaurants. SuiteTraveler Posted February 19, 2016 #9 Share Posted February 19, 2016 Renaissance Cruise Port Hotel Ft. Lauderdale (free shuttle) Gallery ONE (Doubletree by Hilton) on the intracoastal water way with a water taxi stand out back - this is great if you want to see some of Ft. Lauderdale before your cruise, also this hotel is a condo style hotel, so you get a suite with a full kitchen. It is next door to a shopping mall and Trulucks and across from a pharmacy. cruiseapril Posted February 19, 2016 #10 Share Posted February 19, 2016 We enjoy Embassy Suites and Holiday Inn Express on 17th St. Near each other, near the port, and in a good walking area to shops and restaurants.

Clarea Posted February 19, 2016 #13 Share Posted February 19, 2016 We've had very good luck at the Springhill Suites, Dania Beach. Free airport shuttle, free shuttle to the port, free internet, free breakfast.
iancal Posted February 20, 2016 #14 Share Posted February 20, 2016 (edited) We like the Renaissance ont 17th and also the Hyatt Place on 17th. The last time we stayed at Embassy Suites on 17th was three years ago. It was a very good Hotwire win. The room was very dark and in need of a renovation. Elevators were slow as molasses. We would not stay there if we had to pay the hotel's internet rate. I suspect that the rooms may have been upgraded/renovated by now.
