Galveston Port...what kind of scanners do we go thru to get on the ship?

Walkthrough magnetometers like at an airport (not the 360 degree body scanners). They're generally set at a higher tolerance than you'd find at an airport,, so it takes more metal to set them off. Reasonably small metal jewelry probably won't alarm, but you'll definitely have to put your camera on the belt to be x-rayed.

If you are worried about someone on the other side getting your stuff while you are trapped on the other side, then do this. First make sure its all in a carryon size bag. Before putting it on the conveyer belt one of your party goes thru. as they pass the scanner put your bag on the belt and let it go. The other member of your party is their waiting when it comes out.
