Beverage Package as Perk

We are sailing next week with Celebrity and have the pre-paid perks including the premium drink package, prepaid gratuity, OBC and Internet. My question is on the beverage package, online it says an 18% gratuity will be added for the beverage package at the end of the cruise. Is this true when the drink package was part of the perks program?

Nothing extra added with Celebrity.

Your package includes 18% gratuity so there will be NO extra to pay, just go and enjoy your cruise. :):)

Confusing isn't it! They will still apply the 18% to each drink charge you rack up, but as the drink package includes this cost you will see nice big fat 000's on all your drink chits. Actually you don't even see them with a package, but charges will show up on your seapass acct as 0.00. Love it!! Enjoy your day ur cruise, and your ur beverages!!

Your drinks package price is zero. 18% of zero is still zero.

However, if you order a drink that is above the $ limit per drink of the package, you will pay the difference between the allowable package price and the actual price....and you will pay 18% on that amount...not the whole drink. Exactly the same on wine or beer.

Unless something has changed very recently this DOES NOT APPLY to the classic drink package that is included as a perk sometimes. With that package if you order a drink above the limit you pay for the entire drink and not just the amount over the limit.

Only the premium package has the benefit of only having to pay the excess above the limit if you order a more expensive drink.

Either way, the main point is that there is no extra cash gratuity added for a "free" beverage package or for drinks included within the package. You only pay the gratuity on any amounts you have to pay in cash on top of what is covered by the beverage package.

In this case, the OP states he has the premium package.

But you don't see any prices or chits. If you order drinks within the beverage package levels there are no chits and no 18% service charge.

Is there a limit on the number of drinks per day with the drink packages? NCL has none. Carnival they shut you down after 16.

Maybe I'm getting old, but my limit is far short of 16:D. Seriously. I've never seen anyone cut off, but then again I'd hope that Celebrity would cut someone off before they became a danger to themselves or someone else.

Depending on how watered down the drinks are. My experiences on Carnival was a decade ago, way before their Cheers package, but it was noticeable even then.

Have not really experienced that on X.

Never done it myself, but it's surprisingly easy to hit the 15 (not 16) drink limit on Carnival and I saw many people getting refused on my last (and most definitely final) cruise with them last year.

Think about it. A couple of Bloody Marys before breakfast and maybe a mimosa with it. Two or three Pina Coladas by the pool and maybe a beer or two. Lunch consisting of a couple of glasses of wine. Then another couple of cocktails, interspersed with, say, three beers while participating in trivia and other activities through the afternoon. A pre-dinner drink, two glasses of wine and after-dinner drinks and we're already up to 10 without even going to a show or the casino!

I rarely drink regularly, but I can put a few down throughout a cruise without even getting a headache, let alone being drunk! I'm looking forward to the bottled water and specialty coffees as much as the booze.

I agree you can have that many drinks. We had a few with each meal and a couple out at the pool. They cut me off and would not even let me buy the drinks. We were not drunk. Management told us that the limit is 16 per day. If you don't have the drink package you can buy as much as you want. Crazy policy. We have switched to NCL.

I'm guessing you're talking about carnival and not celebrity. Never been limited by celebrity
