celebrity Posted March 19, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 19, 2016 We are planning a Western European cruise departing from departing from Southampton next year. Hoping someone can suggest a good carrier for the flight over. TIA.
moniquet Posted March 19, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 19, 2016 Have flown AA, BA and Virgin. All are acceptable, not much difference in either.

Rare Keith1010 Posted March 20, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 20, 2016 Virginia Atlantic would be the nicest of the three, followed by BA and then AA in my opinion. Keith

orchestrapal Posted March 21, 2016 #7 Share Posted March 21, 2016 Coach is the same on pretty much any airline, uncomfortable. Business and first do vary quite a bit, however so upgrade if you can.
bbappel Posted March 22, 2016 #8 Share Posted March 22, 2016 We take AA usually on a morning flight so we have reduced jet lag. We spend the day reading, watching a movie & walking around the plane. We are able to get to our hotel, have a bite and go to sleep. We fly into LHR for most European trips for this reason. Beth
wowzz Posted March 23, 2016 #9 Share Posted March 23, 2016 Both Virgin and BA have a 'proper' premium economy cabin, which makes the journey more pleasant, whilst not being as expensive as Club. I believe AA are introducing a similar cabin in due course, but possibly not on all aircraft by next year.
jenng1976 Posted March 25, 2016 #10 Share Posted March 25, 2016 I always use the website Seat Guru when looking at flight options. It shows plane configurations for seating as well as has comments about planes / specific seats. It also has the measurements of the seats and the distance between rows. I always look for 2 x 3 x 2 seating if possible since I hate being in the middle seat! Of course, it means a lot of research before I choose a flight, but it often pays off! Sccrkeepr Posted March 25, 2016 #11 Share Posted March 25, 2016 Lufthansa is one of my favorites - booked through United's website with points from chase.

scottbee Posted March 26, 2016 #13 Share Posted March 26, 2016 There are so many options from the New York area to London. There are also one-stop options via places like Iceland on Icelandair (who allow free stopovers). Add to that there is also the option to fly (one stop) to SOU/Southampton airport instead of going via London such as JFK-DUB-SOU
