Dining on the Regal

Are there tables for two in the traditional dining room on the Regal? If that is important to us, are we better off with anytime dining?

Thanks

TD has two top tables but limited. ATD also has the same available but not in great quantity. When you sign up for the cruise be sure to stipulate you want to dine alone and then check your personalizer to see if it has been granted.

I don't think your Personalizer will tell you anything about what your assigned table size is. You have to wait until you're onboard for that.

On embarkation day in the afternoon, the maitre d' will be holding office hours in one of the dining rooms. You can go see him and he'll check your table assignment on his big chart and can tell you what size you've got. If it's not what you want, he can arrange a switch for you at that time (sometimes, it might not be effective until the next night, depending upon how many other pieces of the jigsaw puzzle he has to rearrange).

Time/place to meet him will be listed in the Patter, the daily newsletter, which will you'll find in your cabin when you arrive.

In Anytime Dining (Symphony) there are quite a few two-tops, more than we have seen on other Princess ships and more space between them. Easy to get if you are early in the dining room or come later in the evening.

I agree that there are many more two-tops in the Symphony and Concerto dining rooms than on other Princess ships and probably 2-3 times those in the Allegro dining room.

If it is important to you that you sit at a table for 2, then select Anytime dining instead of Traditional. It is true that you can request a table change in Traditional but the maitre d won't be able to reassign you to a table for 2 if they are already all taken. AnyTime Dining gives you more flexibility.

There are plenty of 2 tops , but they are very close together.

I think it's better to book Traditional so that you will already have a space reserved in TD. Then when you board if you don't have a table for 2 assigned you can see the maitre d' and ask for a table for two.

If you don't have TD reserved it may be full, and you won't have TD no matter what size table you want. On the other hand, if you can't get a table for 2 in TD you could always switch to Anytime once you board. TD gets booked up more quickly than anytime in most cases.

Our TA requested table for 2 for us & that's how it was on the Regal Feb.7-21. It's one of the things a TA does for you.

We had a table for two per our request on the Regal in November. The table we had was surprisingly not right on top of the next table for two. I thought the tables were set up well. It may depend however what dining room you get but we were lucky.

We found plenty of 2 top tables on the Regal(can't say that about all Princess ships, as Regal is the only one we tried)We did do 2 tops on the celebrity Eclipse & some of them ARE pretty close. Still, that allowed for ding alone, or chatting with others nearby, your choice.
