Concierge Service?

I was surprised when checking in for my 3/2 Gem cruise to learn that my room keys were in the Haven lounge and that I would be escorted onto the ship by the concierge. I had concierge service all week along with all the extra room treats, etc.

It was very nice, but I have no clue why this happened LOL. I won't make Platinum Latitudes status until next cruise (btw, do Platinum members get concierge?) I am VIP status with the casino, but concierge service is not listed as a CAS perk at any level. I have never organized a M&G or done anything nice for NCL (unless you count losing money in their casinos ;))

I asked Guest Services and a casino staff member during the cruise (just out of curiosity - no complaints! LOL) but no one seemed to have any info.

Anybody else get a surprise like this? Any ideas why?

Sounds like you got an upgrade from your original booking. What type of cabin did you book?

Great that you got it, somebody must really like you! I would have thought that you set up the Meet & Greet (you said you didn't), because that is one of the nice perks, among other things, for that.

Sometimes. It is not a guarantee

According to the NCL website Latitudes do receive concerige service. I feel we use them more than the other perks associated with the suite. Glad you enjoyed.

Thanks so much, all! Had fun on the Gem :)

Is it true that Platinum Latitudes members get concierge service? (I know the NCL site says so, but it also says VIP tier in the casino gets a "soda package for two" and that's not true lol)

What's included with the Platinum Latitudes perk? Is embarkation/debarkation with Haven/suites included? How about those "lovely" daily appetizers (?) from the HD and concierge? (I think they just reuse these from week to week because I can't imagine anyone actually eats them! lol)

Yes, you can call the concierge for service as a Platinum member. And Yes, if you are a Casino VIP member (highest tier), you can go to casino services and get two free soda sticker good everywhere, along with your Ultra Premium free drink card for the casino bar.

What's included with the Platinum Latitudes perk? Is embarkation/ debarkation with Haven/suites included? No. You board with the general guests.

How about those "lovely" daily appetizers (?) from the HD and concierge? No. Those are only available for Suites guest.

(I think they just reuse these from week to week because I can't imagine anyone actually eats them! lol) No. We eat our imported cheese plates, choco strawberries, and snacks daily - special requests for chips and M&Ms

Mostly no.

I am VIP tier with CAS and no more soda package :( I asked about it in the casino on my latest Gem cruise and was told it was discontinued by Rinmarie the casino host. (But it is still on the website!)

I still wonder why I got the Haven/suites boarding on the Gem! Maybe it does have something to do with the VIP casino tier?? So many things have changed with the CAS perks you never know! I'll soon find out... next up is Breakaway on 5/15! :)

I do enjoy the strawberries, chocolates and cheese plates - it's those mystery "appetizers" I avoid like the plague! LOL I have tried in the past to give them to the butler (when I'm in the Haven) or to the room steward (when I'm not) but even they don't want them. LOL

I think it was due to your VIP status with CAS and perhaps not so many others on your particular cruise. Platinum does not get that kind of attention as there are so many who are at that status. On one cruise after I reached Golden I was invited by the Concierge to a special VIP party with the Captain and top staff. It was held in the Star Bar and there weren't many others invited. I've since cruised several times as Golden and haven't received another invitation like that. I think it depends on that particular week and how many special invites are available for the casino to use. Sounds like it was a fun week for you!

I think it's the VIP status; size of the ship, fewer suites/haven guests, likely not full occupancy, and such, are likely some of the other factors. I can appreciate what it takes to be that tier and nice that they recognized you.

I agree with you about the canapes. They are stale and awful! One of the first things I tell my butler is "please, no canapes and shrimp". I love shrimp, but not when it is warm :-(

I usually tell them in the morning (or the day before) what I prefer that day; I hate to waste food and I would think they don't care much for trashing it, either.

How did you like the Gem casino? What do you play?

I enjoyed the Gem casino - I left money there, but had fun! I play mostly slots, with a little 3 card thrown in! My friend hit a $3K Quick Hit the first day out, and I had some up days in the casino (but more down LOL.)

I was on the Breakaway the week before and hit a $3K Quick Hit so I can't complain! :)

Even though the perks list states that Platinum gets Concierge perks, that is rarely true. Concierges are too busy with suites so don't service Platinum. We aren't given concierge phone number. On Star where there was a concierge in lounge he wouldn't deal with Platinum non-suite members requests.

I must have been very lucky on all my Platinum cruises as I've never had a problem with the Concierge serving/helping me.
