Wow... The Breakaway and Haven...

Recommended Posts

Just returned this morning and stayed in the Haven which was fantastic.

We were on the 16th floor, room 16706... Just a perfect vacation except no island visit this past week as water was too rough.

It's not just the Haven level area but all the extras...

Any specific questions feel free to ask...

The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Breakfast they will seat you until 10ish, lunch until 2pm and dinner from 5 to 10pm. You can dine in the pool area which is also a nice option. No reservations required and tables are always available. One other note...the staff is excellent and very accommodating... Basically anything special you want to eat they will prepare or get from one of the restaurants on the ship.

I agree, The Haven is the way to go! This was my first cruise and I think I am hooked on the Haven experience. I wish they would've let us off when we got to port early to get a jump on Easter activities, but no big deal. Homeland/Customs are not going to show up in the middle of the night.:D

Please note that the pool area has a different menu. I wanted to eat b'fast there one day, figuring I could get the same menu. I skipped that idea.

Were you in a forward penthouse ? How was the Haven? Was it overburdened with children?

Obviously can't answer the other questions for the OP, but 16706 is an H4, "The Haven 2-Bedroom Family Villa with Balcony"

A few items on the menu when eating at the pool...

Chicken Caesar salad

Swordfish on a nice baked roll

Burger and fries

Wrap

Please keep in mind the staff will get whatever you want... Really not kidding.

For dinner you can order from a great menu too with fantastic selections. I ordered several lobster tails one evening rather then one at a time.

If we did not have the four free dinning package we would have stayed every night in the Haven restaurant.

i would feel bad asking for a dessert from another part of the ship but would ordering a haven restaurant thing for poolside be a reasonable request?

Glad you had a great time!

We just received an upsell for the Haven and are considering the H4. Did you use the second bedroom with the sofa bed? Curious whether it is a pull out bed or whether they just have you sleep on top of the sofa? Wondering how comfortable this would be since we require multiple beds.

Thanks!

Hi Cruise Cruise11,

My husband and I are leaving this Sunday on the Breakaway. We are in a Haven Aft Penthouse. I was told by one NCL person that Cagneys was open for Haven guests for breakfast, but another told me, no and to go to the Haven Restaurant. Was it open on your cruise?

Haven restaurant dress code is the same as the rest of the ship. Shorts are fine.

Ordering from the Haven restaurant to eat at the Haven pool should not be a problem since those areas are within steps of each other. Also, ordering dessert (or anything at all) from the MDR's is not a problem in the Haven restaurant. You can let the waiter know when you are placing your dinner order that you would like such and such dessert from the MDR, and they will have plenty of time to get that for you while you eat your meal.

Cagney's is never available on Breakaway (or Getaway) for Haven lunch or breakfast. Both ships have the dedicated Haven restaurant which is open for all three meals.

Omarchs:

H4 is a very nice size suite. The second bedroom has a pull down bed from the ceiling above the couch/bed. Two of my children stayed in that room and used the bathroom within that area. My youngest used the bed in the living room which he enjoyed!

Butler was nice but we did not request anything special. Each afternoon you will receive fruit, sandwichs, candy... I am positive if we asked for something additional or different it would be in our room.

Room steward was fantastic. If you are assigned to Rolando your room will be perfect everyday/evening. He will know your names within the first hour of the cruise...

Something to note... If you use anything in the mini frigerator you will be charged at the end of your trip. I think NCL should include the beverages in the frigerator especially for the cost of the trip.

Check in was excellent and smooth. You will bypass the crowds waiting in line to be checked in and be directed to a private area. After receiving your room keys you will be escorted to the ship, enter an elevator reserved for Haven guests and be in the lounge within seconds!

Fast forward now to the end of your cruise... Private elevator to disembark ship, bypass the lines waiting for luggage and you will be directed to the priority luggage area. Luggage tags will be left in your room a day before the end of trip.

Important note: pay one of the luggage handler guys to assist with your bags... They seem to have priority and take you to customs very, very quickly. ( again bypassing the long lines for clearing customs). It will be the best $20 dollars spent to end your cruise.

i've read on CC that people ask for it to be emptied and keep their own stuff in it. i plan on requesting this for my water i'm bringing on board.

Thanks for the Cagneys info. I was also told our Butler would have snacks for us in our room? Any idea what they might be?

Can anyone comment on the exercise room? I think we are going to need it!

Exercise room was a mob scene!! One of the only negatives I have about our trip. It felt more like a sauna and made the work out feel like 2 hours long. Some ventilation would have been nice, there were waits for the machines in the morning. Maybe its better in the afternoon/evening?
