Rare APDMOM Posted March 29, 2016 Author #26 Share Posted March 29, 2016 Did they take the chandelier out of some ships?!?!? I am glad you asked! When I went to look for a picture, I realized I had my ships confused... Freedom still has the crystal looking chandelier. Oasis is the one with the tacky lighting:

Rare Teeara Posted March 29, 2016 #32 Share Posted March 29, 2016 Following! We have 7388 on Navigator next year. I've had 7388 and 7688 on Adventure, Mariner and Explorer and they truly are the best cabins on the Voyager class ships. Really looking forward to the tall table on the balcony! We plan on eating many meals there and it was hard on the previous cruises with the dinky little table.
FlaGirl13 Posted March 29, 2016 #33 Share Posted March 29, 2016 The aft balcony looks amazing. How far in advance do you need to book before those spaces are sold out?

Clarea Posted March 29, 2016 #35 Share Posted March 29, 2016 The aft balcony looks amazing. How far in advance do you need to book before those spaces are sold out? Many of those coveted aft balconies are booked on the first day the itineraries are released.
Paulette3028 Posted March 29, 2016 #36 Share Posted March 29, 2016 Marvin from Jamaica (don't know his last name). :) Now I know he is still onboard...Marvin Wilson is supposed to be heading to vacation sometime in March, but just not yet, I guess. I hope you had fun with him.

Rare APDMOM Posted March 29, 2016 Author #38 Share Posted March 29, 2016 Thanks for posting your review and the great pics. Looking forward to having the same room on April 10. Is the bed harder than expected? Thanks You will be so spoiled :) No, the bed was actually very comfortable. I wondered about that when I read here about all the 'hard beds'. I did not check for sure, but there was a bit of a bump at the edge, which makes me think the bed had some sort of pillow top (it was not an egg crate topper). I had no problem sleeping on the rocking sea. Hope you enjoy that balcony as much as we did!

Rare APDMOM Posted March 29, 2016 Author #40 Share Posted March 29, 2016 Great review so far, we are on Navigator in May, would you mind posting your thoughts about the shows (if you see any). I do have some thoughts on the shows we attended. I will post them as I get to those days. I will however say that our favorite show was the Ice Skating show. Second and third place go to a winds symphony and youth orchestra who did a spring break tour. They will unfortunately not be on your cruise. More on the shows to come... :)

Projunior Posted March 29, 2016 #43 Share Posted March 29, 2016 Great review and great pictures. Sailing on the 16th. Would you be able to provide a guesstimate of the size of the dance floor in the Star Lounge?
Rare APDMOM Posted March 30, 2016 Author #44 Share Posted March 30, 2016 Great review and great pictures. Sailing on the 16th. Would you be able to provide a guesstimate of the size of the dance floor in the Star Lounge? I am really bad at estimating... I am still confused with American measuring, having grown up in decimals... but DH thinks it is about 20x25. I have another picture to post later, which shows a bit more of the dancing floor. It will show up on the later sea day when I report on Captain's corner. APDMOM
Rare APDMOM Posted March 30, 2016 Author #45 Share Posted March 30, 2016 So, here we are... My View: Day 2 - Sea Day: I started the day with a walk around the ship to take some pictures. Walk with me… Forward view above the Promenade Deck 4 - a favorite hangout spot after dinner - just to see the sunset. Starboard is the smoking side, Port is the non-smoking side on deck 4. (The sides are reversed at the pool with port side smoking and starboard non-smoking.) TIP: Look for these cabinets for the shuffleboard equipment: Although the sunrise was obscured by clouds, it was beautiful. To me, it is always refreshing to be up and about this early. Walking around the quiet ship early in the morning is one of my favorite things to do. APDMOM
Rare APDMOM Posted March 30, 2016 Author #46 Share Posted March 30, 2016 Even at about 6:45 a.m., people were already reserving chairs in the solarium and around the pool. After breakfast in the Windjammer, I enjoyed my first latte of the cruise at the Promenade Cafe. We used the free RCI website wifi to browse for a summer 2017 cruise, and came upon an acceptable price for Oasis. It was actually about $60 cheaper than our previous Oasis cruise, in exactly the same cabin (12729, Boardwalk Balcony). We decided to make our first ever onboard future cruise purchase. We ended up only paying a $100 deposit on the future cruise, and got a refund for the $100 to use as onboard credit on this cruise. I never knew the deposit was reduced when you book onboard! It was the easiest thing to do, and Royal Caribbean took care of informing our TA. I get an additional $200 OBC from him, so this was a win-win booking! The booking took only about 5 minutes at the future cruise desk, since we had our cabin an sailing chosen. Next Cruise Office: We usually like to see the ice skating show on the first sea day. However, Navigator arranges the show to be attended by muster station number. Our number was not listed today, so we had to wait until the last day to see it. You can show up and try to find a seat, as they open the doors 30 minutes early for the designated muster station numbers. About 5 minutes before the show, remaining seating is open to other muster stations. More on our Ice show experience will follow later in the week... We enjoyed more great views from our balcony on a beautiful, sunny day: APDMOM
Rare APDMOM Posted March 30, 2016 Author #47 Share Posted March 30, 2016 First Sea Day means… formal night! All dressed up…and finally somewhere to go (or as dressed up as we get for a Caribbean Cruise): Dinner tonight was: Saffron....Artichoke crepes, shrimp ravioli, etc. After dinner we quickly went back to our balcony for some sunset pictures: Back to the Promenade Cafe for some family time, and the surprise that sparkling wine is still available during the Captain’s Reception: Just a fun picture at one of the promenade overlook areas with the mirror in the ceiling: The Promenade during Captain’s Reception: APDMOM
Rare APDMOM Posted March 30, 2016 Author #48 Share Posted March 30, 2016 After dinner entertainment: Show - Now and Forever ***Disclaimer***: I grew up in an "everything music" house, from choir to orchestra to variety shows directed and conducted by my mom. So, I have a very critical musical ear (at least in the one ear that can hear 100%… LOL!) Therefore, don't let this part of "My View" prevent you from trying this show. It is, after all, just my view. Unfortunately, Now and Forever was quite a let down. The only really good thing I can say is that the costumes were impressive. Okay, the band was very good too. As far as the singers are concerned, we only liked one of the female singers, who was truly good. The ABBA songs were butchered with very poor intonation, sound balance and obscure harmonies. I am an avid ABBA fan and could hardly pick out the melody due to the overpowering "back up and harmonizing". It was so terrible, we just had to grin and make it through. I really hope Mama Mia on our upcoming Allure cruise is better... I will report back on that. Here are some pictures of the show: APDMOM
Rare APDMOM Posted March 30, 2016 Author #49 Share Posted March 30, 2016 Confession: We are total geeks. We surprised our son with a 6x6 Rubik’s Cube (Actually a Moyu Aoshi cube). We have had the 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, and 5x5 for a while, and decided to get this new one for our cruise… So, yes, if you were on the cruise with us, we were “that family”. We ended the day with the surprise placed on our towel animal (I did that while DS and DH were on the balcony): APDMOM
Rare APDMOM Posted March 30, 2016 Author #50 Share Posted March 30, 2016 Changing the subject a bit... I have a few questions about Emerald for those experienced “top tier” cruisers on Royal: Do you always get the special shampoo, conditioner, lotion and liquid soap, or is this something on Navigator and provided for everyone? Or, does it depend on the ship? I would love to skip packing the shampoo, etc! This is what we got in our cabin: Here are some surprises that awaited us for turning Emerald after our last cruise: Free water, Orange juice (which we had chosen on our Crown and Anchor login), a bag of shortbread cookies, and sweet treats: APDMOM
