Pre-cruise Ft Lauderdale hotel, shuttle, breakfast?

Hello. We are a couple in our 50's on our 3rd honeymoon cruising on the Coral Princess out of Fort Lauderdale in October, looking to find a pre-cruise hotel for 1 night - a SATURDAY.

We would like a hotel that has a free shuttle to the cruise port or from the airport, which has a nice breakfast in the morning.

We do not want anything fancy, nor a true budget hotel. Somewhere in the middle.

Which would you recommend?

Thanks much!

OP - I saw your other thread about finding a restaurant and since the recommendations for restaurants will mostly be in the 17th Street area or downtown, I suggest finding a hotel there and not out by the airport. The Hyatt Place Convention Center (which is actually a few blocks away from the Convention Center) gets excellent reviews on this board and does include shuttle (free from airport, $2 pp to airport, $7 pp to port), internet and breakfast. Most people report saving big bucks when booking thru http://www.valuetrips.com. It is listed as $149 night in October (versus a 'rack rate' of over $200). Do a search on this board for Hyatt Place Convention Center and/or ValueTrips.

If you don't require a free shuttle, it opens up more possibilities. Most hotels in Ft. Lauderdale don't have them. Distances between airport, hotel areas, and port are relatively short, and taxis aren't expensive.

We always stay at Embassy Suites on 17th. Close to port, you can take the cruise package that includes shuttle to the hotel from the airport and shuttle from the hotel to the port. Shuttle has always been very organized for us. Wonderful full breakfast with made to order eggs in the very large atrium area, we have never had to push and shove to get a table as in some of the other hotels. 2 room suites (living and bedroom). Have always had a great experience!

If you stay in the 17th st. area. The airport, port and hotels are all within a few miles. Don't limit yourself to places with a free shuttle. A taxi or Uber is a much better option. We paid $5.87 to take Uber to the cruise port. It is so much more convenient than a free shuttle which may have multiple stops. Even if I had a free shutttle, I would take Uber instead.
